What is your current fill in your 4cc band?

Recommended Posts

thanks for the reply. I am finally getting some purreed Soup down this evening. I tried drinking fluids all day and couldn't get it down. but, maybe if i give it a chance and shed a few pounds, I will feel better. is it normal to feel really restricted in the morning? Maybe I should go back and get a 1/2cc taken out? I guess I can see how the weekend goes.

Yes, it is pretty normal to feel tighter in the morning. Right after a fill, I'd often just have an Atkin's or Slim Fast shake, same for lunch and then a small dinner of Protein and soft veggies.

BUT you SHOULD be able to keep down liquids during the day. If not, definately go get a small unfil.

Let us know how it goes.

I appreciate the help. Okay, after I had my Soup, i was able to drink a 16 oz. bottle of Water with no problem. Then just a little while ago, I took a drink of water and got stuck....I took a big gulp. I guess i need to sip slow. Does this make any sense?

Also, do you know why it is tighter in the morning? I was just curious about that. I honestly think the more I know about what is going on with me, the better I will be with this band. It was scary having it all that time before and not knowing what was going on with my body.

Sorry, can't help you there. I don't know why it is tighter in the morning than evening. I also don't know why the differences during the 'time of month' or travelling. But all these things affect my band.

Yes, I sip my Water. We can't put more liquid or food in our stomach than it holds. Think sand in an hour glass. It takes time to empty before you can take in more.

Also you know about the not drinking after a meal deal don't you? So if you have a meal even if it's Soup, do not drink anything for at least an hour afterward. It will keep the food in your tiny tummy, making you feel full longer. If you drink water right after eating, it will 'flush' the food out of your stomach and you may feel hunger again.

Let us know how you are doing.

I have been at 2.5 since March and I think I need a small top up. Just need to make the time. I have been plateaued for about 6 weeks, but have been exercising a lot too, so realistically, I know I have gained some muscle. Can eat pretty much whatever I want, in small quantities.

I went back to my Dr Friday a.m. He said I was tooooo tight so he took out 1cc and left in 2.8 cc. He was glad I didn't wait any longer because I lost 9 lbs since the fill on Tuesday. I told him I started throwing up everything including Water. I was headed for dehydration. Now I feel like my old self.

thanks for the information. I think I will call my doc Monday and see if I can come in get .5cc taken out. I am back this morning not able to get liquids down and it is almost 2 in the afternoon. I just want to get to a happy medium! I have been feeling "blue" too. I'm guessing it is the food withdrawal or having a "restriction" on something in my life that I love and that brings comfort to me. That is really sad, isn't it? I am dealing with a lot of emotions right now! I was so excited to be getting a second chance and now I'm all emotional about it. Gee Whiz!

I was told the reason we are tighter in the morning is because of sleeping. In the morning, we are more dehydrated and the band has been laying flat all night. The Fluid in our bodies plays a big part in the tightness and loseness of the band. That's why ladies feel a difference during that time of the month.

how long did it take you from your fill to get to the point of throwing everything up? That is where I am right now with my band. I finally called the on call doctor last night. I am worried about getting dehydrated. I am trying to wait until Monday morning. The doc said if I started getting weak or dizzy to go the ER and they would admit me for IV Fluid replacent until my doctor was back in the office on Monday. I have tried several times today to drink Water and it just won't go down. I have cried. I am feeling like such a failure right now!

Wow that is stressful nursinggal. It is 3:40pm Western Time.

How are you doing? I have never been been to that point where I couldn't keep down Water, and I am sorry, I can't answer your question

I guess you have to go by how you feel, he said, if you feel dizzy and weak. So be careful and see if you need to go to the hospital tonight, or if you can wait til the morning. If you wait, be at your doctor's office door before he is....that must be very stressful.

Hugs and let us know how it is going.

And PLEASE, this is not your fault, this is not your failure. I hope it all works out Sweetie......hugs

Yes, I find I loosen very quickly with a bit of weight loss. I've had that sweet spot a few times, for a week or two only!

I just got a fill last Tuesday, they took it up .6 cc's. I am now at 3.2 in a 5 cc band. I am still 370 (as of Tuesday, don't have a scale that goes that large here) and have been here for some time, I am sick of this, and have finely hit a bottom with this weight loss. I want to be more healthy, and I am not going to dick around with it till I'm 60. I am 54 now and I have a lot of free time, and the weight holds me back a lot. I want to be done with it, I have the means to be on my way. So why not take advantge of it. I told the Dr I wanted to max this thing out, I want to not be able to eat like I have been. So here I am, having to drink Water slowly, and be extra careful what and how I eat, this 3.2 ain't no joke, I really can't eat. How COOL is that.

I have been banded for a long time and I am now ready to make the last push to get to some kind of normal life. I am setting my goal at 200 lbs, so I have 170 to go.........................CHARGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so proud to hear of your weight loss. I had my band for 2 years....i felt so much at a standstill. I finally found a new doctor that I am comfortable with. I had 1 cc of Fluid put in and got so restricted that I was not keeping fluids down AT ALL.... I went to her this morning and she took .5cc Fluid out! I was so glad to drink again. I was getting dehydrated! I felt awful. I am so happy to drink again.

My advice to you, is not to get too big of a fill at a time! Good luck and kepp us informed!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
