Steve Is Not A Morning "person"

Recommended Posts

I thought maybe it was just me, but I'm discovering now that my sleeve is incredibly picky in the morning...

This morning I tried to drink my coffee, the same as I do every morning, and he revolted and told me no. I didn't vomit, but I knew he was unhappy the second the coffee hit. It's been happening a lot lately actually. Yesterday morning I tried to eat a scrambled egg with spinach about 45mins after I got up and got about 2 bites in before he left me know that it wasn't gonna happen...

Anybody elses sleeve not a morning "person"? How do you ease into your daily eating with a tummy who doesn't like food or drink when it's empty?

I've never enjoyed eating first thing. For me, a Protein coffee or tea is the answer, though if you're having issues with coffee it might not be your answer. I mix two scoops of nectar (chocolate or vanilla) with tea or coffee (sometimes hot, sometimes iced) in a shaker cup and drink that up first thing. By the time it's gone, I'm ready for actual food.< /p>

Maybe you're one of those folks that needs to start the day with a saltine before anything else. My mom is this way and always has been. She keeps sleeves of saltines around the house and has to eat one or two before she can eat or drink anything else. Weird.

Good luck, hope you find a solution!

my sleeve doesn't care for am's either but I can say if I over eat just a tiny bit the night before I pay for it the next am. So I really try to focus when eating dinner and eat slow so I can tell when I am full. Also stress level makes my morning rough too.

I'm going to have to try the saltines thing... I never was much of a morning eater pre-surgery, but I never had problems drinking my coffee... So weird!

I STILL have not managed to find a Protein Shake that my sleeve will tolerate at any hour of the day.

HOWEVER....I have discovered that an Oh Yeah! Protein wafer will go down nicely in the morning....sometimes two.

Just keep hunting around for things that will work when your sleeve is tight/rebellious. It's a common phenomenon. I have been known to eat some refried Beans when my stomach goes on total strike - they're my one "I can eat under any circumstances" food.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
