Liquid Diet....need Some Help!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! I start my liquid diet today, and I had a couple questions.

My diet plan says I can have fat free cream Soups? Does that mean Fat Free cream of chicken Soup? What are some other FF cream soups are there?

I am very nervous about the 14 days of liquids....any tips on how to make it thru would be awesome!

According to my doc the 14 days leading up to the surgery are really more to mentally preapre you for the 14 days after surgery. It was not easy for me. But, I took a super strick Spartan approach where I only ate Protein Shakes and Protein Bars. Down side to that is that I am now 7 days post op and I have not had much outside of protien shakes for the better part of a month. You lose weight fast but I could just about kill a man for anything that reselbles normal food. The bonus side is I feel better enought on day 7 to actually want to eat.

It's easy to make Soups. Use unflavored or chicken flavored Protein Powder, combine with Water or broth, and add soft cooked vegetables or lean meats. You can add even more Protein with fat free greek yogurt. Spices to taste.

The 14 day pre-op diet is to shrink your liver so it isn't in the surgeon's way. So the no fat, no sugar, and no alcohol part is very important.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
