Tiffany Talbert Corbet 46 Posted August 20, 2012 This is probably a silly question, but just to cover the bases, I'm asking anyway. Have you tried the nicotein Patches or gum? I know quitting smoking is just as hard (if not harder) than losing weight, and trying over and over just becomes more frustrating. Some people are successful with those treatments....others just have to stop cold turkey and walk away (as hard as it is) because trying to cut back only gives them the option to increase again. Maybe call your pshychologist and see if they have any suggestions that would help? I know it's not easy (I'm a non-smoker, just have been around those who have had the struggle), but I wish you much luck.
indi1 66 Posted August 20, 2012 I was a heavy smoker for 25+ years. But I knew I had to stop in order to get the surgery. So I used the Patches and at the same time, use an electronic cigg with 0%nicotine cartridge. That took care of my "hand to mouth" issue while I stepped down on the patches.I was on my last couple of days on my Patches when I had my surgery and my doc said I could have the patch in the hospital. But I didn't need any when I got home and have been fine ever since then (2/22/12). For me the biggest challenge was the "fear" of not having the next smoke. Seriously scared. But I will tell you what changed that for me. The book "Allen Carr's Easy Way to stop smoking". http://www.amazon.com/Allen-Carrs-Easyway-Stop-Smoking/dp/0615482155/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1345462378&sr=1-1&keywords=allen+smoking I guarantee you I would not have been as successful if I had not started with this book. Justine13 264 Posted August 20, 2012 Have you tried Chantix? Worked wonders for my hub's chewing? Now that you're two weeks away I know that isn't the answer now but wondering if you ever tried it?
