MIne growled a lot for about a week and then it went away. Be sure to walk to help get the trapped air out. The air and one of my incisions caused the most pain, but it went away after about 8 days.

you should call your doc for some pain meds if you dont already have some.....dont suffer through the pain, better healing occurs when you arent in pain. as for all of the sounds, that will continue for some time. I had the weirdest sounds coming from my tummy, and my whole family would laugh about it.....it will go away, just takes some time.

I had a lot of pain when the hospital meds wore off as well. After about 5/6 days out of hospital, I didn't even need any pain meds. I'm about 3 weeks out and my stomach still growls after eating/drinking. I'm sure it's pretty normal, I've brought it up to my surgeon and he doesn't seem alarmed by it. But make sure you walk!! It helps to break up all the gas, which could be causing you the bulk of your pain (at least that's what happened to me!).

Thanks guys ! I was just worried cause someone else posted a forum about listening closely to ur body because they found a leak 21/2 months later! So I'm trying to play it safe...other than the pain, I'm doing pretty good, I'm just missing being able to drink normal :(

I'm a year and 5 months out and my tummy still makes funny noises! Alot depends on what I've had to eat or drink.. walking is wonderful and it will help with the pain too.. I don't remember how long I was on pain meds but I don't think it was more than a few days, if you need to call the doctor!!! Don't let things get too bad!!

\ I'm just missing being able to drink normal :(

You will be able to drink normal again too before long. At the stage of the game you were at, I felt constantly thirsty, and the constant sipping was not helping. But if I took a larger swallow, it hurt. By the end of one month, I was able to drink close to normally again (not chug but take normal swallows) so it did not take me forever to get through 8 oz of Water. Still you will need to follow no water 30 minutes before and after meal rule, but when you can drink normally getting your fluids in no longer feels like a full time job. I hope you feel better soon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
