Insurance Said, Yes!

Recommended Posts

I started this journey for insurance authorization in May and just found out late Friday I am approved for surgery.

I am feeling relief, fear, joy and know more than ever this is my year for change for the better. I have seen many ppl this week having a hard time with mobility because of the extra weight they carry. I don't want to end up that way. So grateful for this second chance. No more excuses.

I am not nervous about surgery, but apprehensive about getting time off, two weeks, around a demanding fall work schedule. Told my boss about the surgery, but did not have a date. Maybe Sept 24th.

My surgeon did not tell me I had to lose a certain # of pounds so far. And I haven't. I have a six week plan, and the two week no carb eating plan just before surgery.

Time to be all in and embrace this with open arms. Should hear from the surgeon this week for pre op appointment.

Chad

That is so exciting!! I started my journey in July and I'm more nervous about getting approved to have it than actually having the surgery! I can't wait to feel that relief, to be able to embrace it, and I'm happy that you're getting yours done so quickly! It makes me hopeful for my journey. :)

Good luck to you!!

This was one of my most exciting moments my insurance approval. 2nd was gettin.g my surgery date which was June 28. It's easy to be a ball of nerves with every surgery but I must say that it was one of the easiest surgeries I have had. But i know thats not the same for everybody. I just want to say congratulations and wishing you the best. We are all so lucky to have a 2nd opportunity.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
