I know I got the sleeve to help me wit weight loss n my bad eating habits. I had my surgery on 8/14 n I swear I am not even worried about weighing myself. My doctor said its going to come of fast at first. My highest weight 327 my pre-op weight 322. I am not interested in the scales at all. Am I crazy cause I can careless about a scale? ?

You're not crazy,,it's actually a good thing to not care about the scales but most of us do unfortunately. Weigh yourself when you feel it's time for you to so that you can see the great progress you are making. That will help keep you on track and pushing towards your goal. If you feel you only need to weigh at your dr appts, then by all means,,that's what I'd do.

I was obsessed over the scale. I was weighing myself 5 to 6 times a day. My doctor told me he was going to recommend psychotherapy for me if I didn't stop. It was becoming and OCD. Now I weigh myself once a day. I'm hoping to progress to only once a week. So I think not worrying about the scale is okay.

Before this surgery I never weighed myself only at doctors appointments n most of the time I would refuse. I think it is because I never use to lose lbs I lost inches so it was always frustrating for me in that area. I always thought the scale is not your friend... Lol

Nope not crazy at all. I dont even own a scale. I just stop by the Doc's office once every couple weeks to weigh in if I'm curious about how much I'm loosing.

Im the same way! As a matter of fact my battery on my scale went out on me after three yrs the day before my surgery! I havent had the urge yet to even go and buy a new one. I almost want it to be a suprise when i go to my follow ups and the dr tells me how much more ive lost. I love going to my one week follow up last wed and them telling me i was 17lbs down! It felt great. So i am trying to hold out as ling as possible and just let things happen and find out what i weigh when going to see my dr. I dont know long ill last but im going to at least try it for the first three months. I see too many ppl upset or down on themselves when they hit stalls. And i know me i would be really hard on myself if i knew i was on a stall.

No, because if it is about your health than the scales really make no difference. What makes the difference is the change in your diet and upping your exercise.

I weigh twice a day, I have for over 2 years. My physician recommends weighing every morning. He said it is best to know where you're at, he said it is much easier to lose 3 lbs than it is to lose 8 or 9. It's a game to me to weigh at night, I guess what I'll weigh in the morning, some times my husband plays the guessing game as well. :) I am 1 lb above my doctor's goal but I am up five lbs above MY personal goal. I wanted to be five lbs under his so I'll have a pad. We've had company, gone on vacation and had a familly reunion the past two months, so putting on an extra five lbs was easy. As of yesterday, no more traveling or guests expected. I'm back on track NO MORE SWEETS!!! I can have a bite here and a bite there, which is how my NORMAL life is, but with all the sweets around the past couple of months, it's just easy to over do!!

I only get weighed at the doctor during weight loss. I hate the scale too and could care less what it says. I worry about my size and how I feel in my own skin. HOWEVER--when I get into maintenance--I'm going to break down and get a scale and monitor at least weekly. Getting too complacent could cause me to gain weight without realizing it and when I am in maintenance I can never be complacent. It would probably be too easy to gain weight back.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
