How Do You Manage It All?

Recommended Posts

Could you guys share your vitamins/meds routines? When is the best tine to take them?

When do you eat/drink? With 5 small meals a day and not being able to drink half hour before and after, that means that out of my waking day I can't drink for at least 5 hrs (add time spent eating). I've gotten dehydrated a couple of times so my doc said that for the moment, forget about the no drinking /eating rule. Any of you heard of that?

I take all my Vitamins first thing in the morning when I get up at 3:45. Then I drink a Protein shake on the drive to work, which is an hour drive! Around 8:00 I have yogurt, then lunch at 11:00 usually something chicken, 2:00 is a cheese stick or nuts, 4:00 another Protein Shake for the drive home then a little bite of chicken before cardio class. dinner is aftern the gym so usually around 7:00 and it is turkey or chicken. I drink continuously in between except for the 30 minutes before or after. I know I don't get in all the Water I should.

Make time for exercise to help with sagging skin. You will be losing weight even without it, so don't be tempted to let that be the way you lose. Still get out there and exercise. My life has changed and it seems like I am either exercising or eating all the time.

Good luck you will love it!

My surgeon says it is fine to drink up until you start to eat. That is his rule for everyone post-sleeve. He still recommends no drinking with food and for 30 minutes after.

It is hard to manage it all. Remember your priorities--1. Water (hydrate) 2. Meds/vitamins 3. Protein 4. Everything else.......and least that is what I was taught. Sometimes you can combine the hydrate and Protein with a protein shake, but always make sure you get your fluids in even if it means you don't get everything else in.

I DON'T manage everything, to be honest. I only eat 4 meals a day (my NUT wants 5, but can't manage it) but sometimes I need to wait 60-90 minutes after eating to drink (especially after dense proteins) because otherwise it all comes up. So, yeah, I'm having some trouble getting it all in. But I'm trying to get as much Fluid in as possible because yeah, dehydration is a much more immediate concern than not always getting in my Multivitamins. Good luck with that!

I start and end my day with 8oz of Water. That really helps me mentally to know I only have to fit 6 cups in throughout the day. I'm either eating or drinking all day long, nit seems. Honestly my biggest struggle is Vitamins. I have to take with food in order to not get sick, but I also need to drink water after for the same reason. Vitamins have been my biggest struggle post op.

I find that I can take my b1 and d 30-45 minutes after my dinner. Have u tried that yet? I take my multi and B12 in the morning after Breakfast. My multi is a chewable and the b12 is dissolvable.

I admit I DON"T manage it all. Even before surgery, I had a hard time remembering to drink. It is a conscious decision on my part...everyday.

As for the Vitamins...what a disaster! They make me sick to my stomach. I take them, and they just sit there, threatening to come back up. The taste lingers, and I barely keep them down. As a result, I do not take them as scheduled. I know better, and I am trying to get the mental and the physical in sync.

I've heard from the 'professionals' that not drinking with a meal and waiting for 30 mins after eating before drinking, is very important. I have a glass of tea with me most of the time, if I'm not eating and as soon as I finish eating, I'll get another glass of tea, or at night I drink a glass of skim milk. I gave up on the 'water' thing. I don't like crystal lite and things like that. I drink coffee and tea. I always have Water when we eat out, and when we go to Star Bucks, I leave with a Venti iced Water. I am fine doing this, the nurse said, just drink something other than soft drinks or sugared drinks! Ever since she told me this, my skin is better, my urine stays close to clear. All is good!! :)

I take a chewable Flintstones Complete first thing in the morning, and around 9pm. Also first thing I take a sublingual B12. I use a chewable Calcium with Vitamin D, comes in three doses/day. In order to ensure maximum absorption these need to be taken at least two hours after a Multivitamin (because the Iron interferes with Calcium absorption), and at least two hours apart (because you can only absorb 500mg of calcium at a time)....so I have alarms set for 10am, 1pm, and 4pm to remind me to take them. In addition to these Vitamins, I take liquid Zantac morning and evening, Actigall (to prevent gallstones) morning and evening, and a Prevacid solutab in the evening.

To make sure I eat everything I need to eat, I use a "Diet Minder" journal, and plan my day (food, drinks, etc) the evening before. Planning ahead makes it much easier for me to meet all my requirements....cuz I don't have to think much about it during the day. I'm currently eating five small meals throughout the day, with Muscle Milk for Breakfast, and a high Protein Gelatin most evenings for a snack.< /p>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
