Food Funeral: Justine's Definition...

Recommended Posts

.... The period of time between being told surgery is approved until I meet with the doctor again OR until pre op starts.

Just so happens to be my favorite part of the pre surgery phase. Mind you me- I will be happy to give it all up when the time is here.

As a refresher: the worst part of pre surgery: waiting for approval.

:-)

I dont' really get the 'food funeral' thing - but I have had a few meals that I know I won't have anymore...not 100% sure why I did it, I guess becuase I could....as I certainly won't miss anything about food. I don't get the concept that you can't live without diet soda - or certain foods... please don't flame me - I just don't understand that mindset that food could be a 'friend'. food is food, nothing less and nothing more - to me that is. I just have an issue with finishing my plate....or eating a whole burger when 1/3 of it would just be fine - because I can - not because I crave it.

thank goodness I had the 6 months or prep time for this surgery - as I started incorporting these eating behaviors in advance so I hope i don't struggle after the surgery.

I just used the term because I see it on here a lot. By nature - I don't take things too seriously - love to have a good time and am usually pretty opimistic. That being said- I think you are totally entitled to your opinions. Quite honestly I find it comical on here that so many people get so upset by people'a posts. It Sounds like you have developed a healthy relationship - yea relationship- with food. I, on the other hand, do not :)

Here! Here! I figure if I had that healthy a relationship with food, I wouldnt be desperately seeking Sleevie. But alas, food has been my lover( dont tell DH...I'm sure he has his suspicions, lol!!)

I love to cook it, eat it and smell it. It will be like saying by to a old flame and hello to a new hot lover I hope. I want to cook it. Smell it. Enjoy it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
