think of when you can eat it in moderation because you're healthy and skinny and don't need 2 or 3 plates(b/c that would have been me) to be satisfied

Same thing happened to me today. Everyone else was chowing down on grilled chicken, corn on the cob, potato sa;ad, chips and salsa etc......on top of that they kept asking if they could get me a plate grrrr.

Since you've had your surgery...do you ever notice how MUCH all of those other people are eating!! I am keenly aware of this and think WOW did I use to way that much!!!

I can say that all I thought about for 2 weeks post op was eating again but you will be surprised once they give you the go ahead it won't be such a present thought (%#@$ head hunger).

I wish you luck but know you are strong and madge it through any temptations. I promise you as each situation presents itself you will feel more inner confidence about making this life change.

Wishing you a continued speedy recovery.

I'm 4 days out and I'm trying to not listen to my mind which is constantly telling me to eat. I sit and watch my husband and kids all eating fast food last night. I'm so hungry are at least I think I am. I don't know how much Jello I can eat. Watching them eat kills me just the smells - get in my head.

@belaire30....It will get better (I know everyone says that ;-}). As soon as you can hit the mushy/soft foods. I made the Ricotta bake as one of my first things. You will find that once you are there foods will just be things you HAVE to eat for nutrition. It is a very strange feeling not to be hungry.

Just hang on...it will be worth the "weight" once you see the progress!!!

I'm starting to see how much head hunger I have vs. stomach hunger. It's amazing how much food played a role in my life and how much I need to overcome my addiction to food. Thanks for the kind words it helps me to know the support is there

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
