theoldmusicbox 399 Posted August 18, 2012 I am 37, six months ago, I was 5'6" and weighed 373 pounds. My son has ran cross country for the last 2 years. I have been lucky to be able to watch him start, then take the parent shortcut to the finish line in time to see him finish. It has always bothered me that I couldn't help him train in any way. Today, I am still 5'6", but am now down to 270. This morning, my son and I participated in a 5k. Yes, he had to wait for me at this finish line, but I crossed it at 49:30' still able to sprint the last 40 yards. And I did not puke, pass out, or die. My 14 year old son, told me that he was proud of me today. I have had many nsv's, but none of them made me feel as good as this one. Worth it all, everyday and twice on Sunday. Much love O 18 SuiteV, Chuckles, Lissa and 15 others reacted to this
traceyinflorida 499 Posted August 18, 2012 That is by far the BEST NSV I have ever heard!! (and I have read some really good ones!) That is one that will have you feeling good for days to come! Congratulations on running your first 5K! That alone is huge, but having your teenage son say he is proud of you....PRICELESS!!
barrbdoll 287 Posted August 18, 2012 That is WONDERFUL!!!! Congratulations!!! I am doing a 5k October 5th and at my highest weight I was 332lbs. I am 5'10 and am just hit an 80lb loss this morning - 252lbs!! I am 4 months out from my surgery and I think I may hit the 100lb mark at 6 months as well. I am ecstatic and I cannot wait to run across that finish line just like you!!!! I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!!

Much love O [/quote'] BEST. NSV. EVER. Your post made me tear up. My oldest son does cross country and track too. He is going to start running with me. He took the summer off and today he shared that he's worried that he won't be able to keep up with me!?! Craziness. I ran a 10k today! I was fortunate enough to run a 5k with my youngest son last month. It ranks high in my life's favorite moments. Here's a pic. Loved it! I'm so glad that u shared today. 2 theoldmusicbox and Izuri reacted to this

rdoactv 218 Posted August 21, 2012 Wow. U brought tears to my eyes. I have a son, nearly 13. I dream of being able to do just this kind of thing with him. One of my main reasons for the surgery. Thank you for sharing. I hope someday, I will hear those words from him. 2 HalfTheWoman and theoldmusicbox reacted to this
