SleeveShelly 75 Posted August 18, 2012 Did anyone have to take the smoking test before surgery where you had to blow into a machine to measure for carbon dioxoide?
isajck 229 Posted August 18, 2012 No but it was a standing threat from my surgeon's office that helped me to quit smoking like I was supposed to prior to surgery.

ForMyfamily 84 Posted August 23, 2012 I have quit smoking for 7 years but my Doc orders the test for all patients I guess. When the lab drew blood one was for nicotine.
LadyJ_OES 10 Posted August 23, 2012 I had a urine test. I quit for 5 days so I could pass. Be careful though...I ended up with a blood clot after surgery. My Dr required me to have a filter placed bc of my history with blood clots and that saved my life so please don't smoke.
circa 333 Posted August 24, 2012 please please please - if you really want to do something for your health, please quit smoking! I KNOW how hard it can be. I did it - several times. I finally did it for real almost 6 years ago. You have to really want to make the change in order for it to work - and I'm telling you - it'll be the best choice you ever make for yourself - even better than this surgery. Why? Because it ALLOWS you to have this surgery and allows you to BREATHE again! Good luck! Try anything! Chantix worked for me!
