ebthompson2010 126 Posted August 18, 2012 Have any of you post ops been intoxicated?? Not that I plan to do that or anything but I'm only 23 and enjoy being a little buzzed every now and then. Of course not until I get the okay from the dr for some wine. What's it like??? Do you get sick easier from alcohol?? Drunk faster?? Just curious.
dar1983 751 Posted August 18, 2012 I am 1.5 months post-op, and so far I haven't had more than one drink...on three occasions. And this is coming from a girl who enjoyed a good happy hour!
ebthompson2010 126 Posted August 18, 2012 Did you feel anything?? It use to take like 11 7 and 7s for me to feel even a buzz!
Neese 75 Posted August 18, 2012 I have read that you will feel tipsy very quick. However, I had a little under half the amount of liquor that wouldve had me feeling it -- and only felt slightly woozy. I didn't try any alcohol until 5 mos out. Also be wary of wine it contains a lot of sugar and it could make you feel sick just from that. I hear they have skinny margarita mix with no sugar. My hubby works for a food distributor so I'll post the stats on that wenever I get a chance (: have a great weekend
dar1983 751 Posted August 18, 2012 I felt a little something. On one night, I had a glass of chardonnay, and limited myself to just the one because I was driving. I enjoyed it, but was conscious about feeling 'tipsy'.
Rootman 1,101 Posted August 18, 2012 Generally as you lose wight the amount of alcahol that is required to make you drunk will DECREASE becasue your body mass is less. There is also the fact that possibly more raw alcahol is being dumped into your intestinal tract becasue the stgomach holds less.

I never had anything to 'drink' until after I reached goal. It is definitely wasted calories. I have noticed that it takes less to feel the effects of alcohol. SexySlim 107 Posted August 23, 2012 I'm almost 5 months out and have only tried drinking twice. I had a high tolerance pre-op. I've only sipped on some taquilla and some sangria. Probably less than 2 ounces each time and I got buzzed really fast, but it went away just as fast too. I'm scared to try a whole drink now. I used to love Presidente Margaritas from Chili's. lml32937 65 Posted August 23, 2012 I'm almost 1 year out and YES you get drunker/buzzed faster- 1 glass of wine will do me in- 2 Jello shots will be a good buzz... Mixed drinks depends on how strong they are and I stopped drinking the frozen drinks because they are a) full of sugar and fill me up too fast- I prefer now to just drink at home because when I go out I rarely will finish the drink I get and to me that is a waste of money- at home I can make whatever size I want... I have only gotten "drunk drunk" 2 times since surgery and it wasnt fun- I needed to throw up and was afraid of doing so- it eventually came up on its own and then there is the peeing factor- with such a small tummy I swear it goes to the bladder twice as fast henceforth once you open the flood gates and go 1 time you are in for the night (for me anyway).. TMI sorry... But I reccomend to try it and see how you do- but it will DEF be WAAAY different and waay less post op than pre op... GOod luck--
