LadyBlue31 2 Posted August 17, 2012 Dr. Oz actually promoting surgery. I am very surprised due to the fact he is always promoting natural ways of loosing weight. He should promote the Gastric sleeve.

gustavo52974 369 Posted August 17, 2012 Ugh...he's always so smarmy. And he looks emaciated; not a manly body at all. I, too, am surprised he's promoting something other than "diet and exercise." 2 mylifeinpink and shellbell125 reacted to this

NDN_RN 527 Posted August 17, 2012 I remember once tuning into his show after a teaser that said"eat what you want and still lose the weight" it turned out to be eat substitutes that are low carb and small portions and lose weight. I startled my kids when, during the show, i screamed out "you"re a charlatan," 5 Izuri, Frza, Need-a-Sleeve and 2 others reacted to this
ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted August 17, 2012 He will promote whatever the advertisers want him to promote. don't agree with what others have posted- he always says he never promotes things on tv or in magazines. if theres a picture of him by a product - his picture was put there with out his knowledge/consent in the same respect if the producer came to him with a subject like the bypass - if he didn't approve, i think he would make an arguement to the producer - and not have that subject on the show - i think he's very ethical - not like the Maury show, i don't watch that by the way i turned the show on at 4:15 when i saw the post, i did enjoy the show this is IMO call me gullable or naive, but i really believe in him kathy 2 Odee and amytug reacted to this
COsleeveDude 273 Posted August 17, 2012 I think he is doing his best to educate while entertaining. This isn't PBS or NPR, the demographic is soccer moms.
Dooter 1,457 Posted August 17, 2012 This is an older quote from Dr. Oz. He's not my fave either, but i love this quote: So you're a proponent? (of WLS) "Yes. Listen, if you're one hundred pounds overweight at age fifty, you have the same mortality rate as if you have a solid cancer. Would you operate for cancer? Yeah. So if you cannot lose that weight, get one of these procedures. You have to do it with counseling and full awareness of what you're doing, of course. But if you get people to start losing 5% of their excess body weight, you're really taking a big whack out of the two-thirds of Americans who are overweight or obese right now." 8 lessofmeismore, clk, dexter and 5 others reacted to this
Finding MeMe 204 Posted August 17, 2012 I like Dr. Oz one of his shows was discussing celiac disease, gluten intolerance and allergies. His show helped me discover that I was allergic to wheat/gluten products. He has a lot of good information from a Dr's point of view and I appreciate that. 1 Odee reacted to this
NDN_RN 527 Posted August 17, 2012 I think he should have discussed Gastric Sleev as an option as well. He didn't discuss the draw backs of chronic malabsorption. 4 ProudGrammy, Raven21, Finding MeMe and 1 other reacted to this
Threetimesacharm 1,400 Posted August 17, 2012 I totally agree with Kathy. I watched the show and do not believe Dr OZ would promote this if he did not believe in it. He has his reputation on line. The sleeve is a component of the bypass, whether he did or did not discuss it, I think that it is wonderful that he stands behind weight loss surgery. He has put the information out there for those who may be considering the surgery. He states that a very low percentage, I think it was 3, of people who qualify who actually get the surgery. Obesity has become an epidemic in America and I am glad the surgery is being discussed. 3 Odee, Finding MeMe and ProudGrammy reacted to this

I, too, am surprised he's promoting something other than "diet and exercise." I think you may be jealous of his "not manly body". He is fit, slim and eats right!! What we all should be doing. 2 ProudGrammy and COsleeveDude reacted to this
