My Op Has Been Cancelled Today :(

Recommended Posts

Im gutted right now My Op has been cancelledsad.gif Totally devatsedCry.gif

Without going into too many details, Ive been Anaemic for years and on Tablets.

These have never worked for me and my level has always been on the lowish side.

I had a blood test recently at my GP's to check various things and one was my Iron level, unfortunately its dropped quite dramatically and even though the Consultant knew this said he would operate but not if it dropped further.

After bloods at the hospital I was to know Wednesday or Thursday the outcome.

It was good and everything was scheduled for Tuesday.

Today the Surgeon has decided its needs investigations into why my Iron has dropped and said for my safety and his he wont operate.

Totally gutted.

So now ive got to wait until next Friday to see my GP and decided what other Investigations I need.

Appreciate your support Guys and as you can imagine im very sad right now.

I got the call whilst at the hairdressers

Linda x

I'm sorry. My surgery was almost delayed, and that was tough. I can't even imagine what an actual cancellation feels like.

I am so sorry Linda. But Look at it from another point. It is better to figure out why and be on Safe side. Put it another words your surgery was postpone for another month or two.

I know it is hard to say then done. Sorry again.

Oh Linda, I'm sorry!

Just work to find out what's keeping your Iron low and keep eating healthy until your surgery happens. You can still be losing weight until it happens and you will be that much closer to goal; once you have the surgery any weight you have lost won't come back.

Positive thoughts!!!

You can do this :)

I am a true believer in everything happens for a reason, and I think it is better to have everything checked out before being operated on. I can only imagine how upsetting it is, but hang in there, once you are in the clear you will have a safe and well done procedure. =)

All the best

So sorry, I can't imagine how hard that would be. Like everyone else already stated, its better to be safe. I know that right now you are just upset and frustrated. Hopefully your GP can figure out how to fix and get your numbers up. Good luck!!

I was suppose to have my surgery last month and two days before my surgery my insurance was cancelled. So believe me I know how you feel, however I'm also a strong believer of every thing happens for a reason. So just try to stay calm and relax. It's been about a month and half and now I'm going to have it on Tuesday . So patience is a must. You made it this far, you can wait a little while longer. God won't put nothing on you you can't bare

*HUGS* Sorry this happened to you. But like the rest have said, its best finding out what's going on with your Iron before surgery. I hope they can find out what it is soon.

Oh goodness, I understand how disappointed you must be. But, like the others have said, I agree it is better to postpone it and find out what is going on first than to have problems during or after surgery. Please keep us posted on how things are going.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
