Thanks for your replies everyone.

I think I was just upset "in the moment"... But that moment has passed...and so has the work day.

I'm home now. I have surgery on Monday' date=' and after that....the rest is history.

Best of luck to you all in whatever stage of WLS you're in.

Toodles![/quote']

Good luck!!! We all will have frustrated freak out moments so I support your right to vent. Let's face it we wouldn't be having this done if we didn't have issues with food. I think of it as a divorce of sorts. Mourning the loss of relationship but, know I am better off.

Well on another note your going to pull something better than them. After your sleeved and "can" eat again. You ARE going to do this. Your going to look at their food and they will look at yours then yall will begin eating. After your 3 bites your going to say "Man I am stuffed, how can yall eat so much" lmao.

You gotta understand. People watching me eat makes them feel bad. Its funny because This girl I know starves herself daily. She came eat out with us at a chilis and she ordered the salad. I just fixed me a couple bites off another persons plate and ate that and they could tell that I was stuffed lol. She saw that and quit eating lol. Not my intentions at all but thats just one way people will react. Have fun with it.

Yes I bet emotions are all over the board and patience is THIN on day 5 of the pre-op!! Totally remember that phase!! :-). But u know what!?!? YOU ARE GOING TO BE THIN TOO VERY SOON!!!!!!!! Yippie!!!!!!! Get ready for an AMAZING ride!!! The week after surgery is going to be hard - be mentally prepared for that and remember it won't last forever. Each week will get easier but do follow your dr's orders and timeline for progressing into 'normal' foods. You will likely need to dig deep within as u will probably see many people who act differently when u have the surgery. Many supportive but also some who aren't. So post here and vent here -- it's okay that's what it's here for. Sometimes we all need a reality check and just know we've all been thru the same emotional roller coaster. But for me, at 6 mths out it is an INCREDIBLE outcome. Takes some work - its not magic...well not completely - but u do ur part and ur sleeve will give u the goal u r looking for!!!!! God speed and prayers for Monday and fast healing. Keep a positive attitude -- u r so fortunate to be doing this!!!!! :-)

I'm thinking that since you're the one who had the surgery, it's not unreasonable that ou should be the one to excuse yourself, rather than expecting several others to change their routine for you. It's just the way it is for now, but not forever. Hang in there.

I think your request that they leave their desks was unreasonable.

I had a friend staying with me maybe 5 or so days after surgery to help out or whatever and he was talking about ordering sushi or pizza delivered, which was no big deal. I took a short nap and woke up and he'd ordered chinese, my favorite. I was a little peeved about it in the moment, even though I knew he never intended to make me feel bad. I did make up a reason and left the room while he was eating. Sometimes it's still hard for me to eat around people, but I'm hoping it will get easier for us as the process continues =)

I don't know about the fairness or unfairness of having them leave their desks, but I do wanna let you know that you should at least be proud that you were strong and didn't give in to getting a hamburger too or something like that. At least post-op I can tell myself that there's no way a burger could fit in my sleeve, or that I could be seriously hurting myself if I gave in, but pre-op I couldn't use this reasoning with myself, so I know it's sheer willpower. Hang in there - You are two days from surgery and they are gonna fly by!

I'm late on this topic.. by like a week.. but let me tell you when I am hungry, and craving food I get mean! MEAN MEAN MEAN! And if I asked my co-workers to eat someplace else because it tempted me (esp. during a pre-opt diet) and they didn't I would be as mad as a little red hen! I'm also temperamental! So yeah I can put myself right in your shoes and say I know how you was feeling girl! lol.. lack of food, nerves, etc. It all adds up! But I would be in the wrong! Because like others said I'm choosing to have this surgery, and I have to be the one to adapt and change to my new life style. But I PROMISE you that I would have reacted the same way you did even though I know I should be the one to leave! lol.. Everyone has stressful moments and that was one of yours!

Hopefully you are recovering well!

I don't blame you for being upset you were totally justified. Not because you expect the world to change for you. we all know it is up to us as

individuals but because you have a "friendly coworker relationship with these females" You asked and they agreed. It is normal to expect people we are on good terms with to

be understanding and follow through with their agreements. Luckily I don't have this issue as the company not only provides an appropriate place to eat lunch and take breaks

but you are actually not allowed to eat at your desk/station. Of course we are not allowed to smack people upside the head who are rude or ungracious so I think

you handled it appropriately.

Weak moments happen. I work in an office where there is a specified break room we are required to eat in. If that were the situation, then definitely, I would be the one to get up and go. However, and I understand that you all probably always eat at your desks...but if there is a break room, personally, if they are your friends, I don't see a problem with asking what you asked. I work at a doctor's office and during the holidays we receive DAILY treats from all over! Specialist offices send stuff, patients send stuff...chocolate, Cookies, candies, cakes!!!! Last year I asked if instead of putting all of it on the counter in medical records where I would continuously pass it and be tempted, if they would put it all in the breakroom. They obliged me and all was well. When I was in the breakroom eating what I brought for lunch, I was able to "just say no"...but in short passings through medical records...1 chocolate here, one cookie there...it was just too easy ;)

Unfortunately, looks like friends or not, they are simply creatures of habit that won't change. Hang in there.:)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
