Had my surgery 7 days ago today. Not very tolerant of pain didn't prepare for the aftermath. I was surprised that I came home the next day and with the drainage still inside of me. It's been a challenge for my children who have been my support. Would I have changed my mind? Yes! But, only about the date of surgery. I have for the past two days not been able to stomach my Protein Drinks. They keep me in the bathroom. Wondering if I should keep drinking them or call my nut? My follow up is still a week away. :/

I think some of us wished we didn't do this surgery right after. . . i was like that for 3 - 4 months, then i just accepted the fact that this wasn't going to go away and i was stuck with it. . .pulled up my big girl panties and dealt with it. . . lol. . . are you sure it's the Protein drinks keeping you in the bathroom or the change in your habits and the possible dye coming out from the leak test??? I had the runs for close to 1 month because of that dye. . . i would keep drinking them, you go to the follow up next week anyhow, so just hang in there for a bit more. . . .just my advice, if your vomiting them up, then thats different, then i would definately call the nut. . . .good luck

Hi Gnvpur:

I am 2 weeks post op and trust me, the moment I woke up from surgery I thought to myself "Why the heck did it do this! Just to loose some weight." I think most of us probably think that right after surgery.

I tried Protein Shakes maybe 4 days post surgery and couldn't do it. They made me so sick. I just had to keep trying and make sure I was drinking them on an empty stomach and very slowly. There was a few days when I could only get 1/2 of a shake down. I still can only drink 1 shake a day and it has to be for Breakfast because my stomach is empty.

Just keep trying, you will get them down.

Isopure has a clear drink with 40 g of protien. They are not the best but if you mix with crystal lite they are alot easier to drink. Being not as heavy as the protien shakes may help you keep them down. It seemed to work for me i could only have Clear Liquids for the first weak. Week 2 when i was able to have the protien shakes it wasnt any problem.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
