Piplula 709 Posted August 16, 2012 As our bodies begin to shrink, hormones are released that are stored in our fat cells. Thus, sometimes women and men have mood swings. It's a common occurrence! You are normal. One thing that can counteract the "emotional meanies" is exercise! If it becomes a source of depression, seek help!! 2 tabbymonroe and SunnyCox reacted to this
Piplula 709 Posted August 16, 2012 Btw..everything you described is" normal". It does get better with time. Give yourself some leeway! You just had a major life changing surgery! Hang in there! 4 tabbymonroe, ohmandy, SunnyCox and 1 other reacted to this

Izuri 428 Posted August 16, 2012 Mood swings are totally normal. I agree with Piplula - maybe it would help to talk to someone? Many of us have bottled things up for years, especially if we're emotional eaters, and when we can't have food to deal with stress we are stuck finding other ways to deal with it. It's a difficult thing. I know there are many therapists out there that work with bariatric patients, maybe it would be helpful to have at least a couple appointments, just to sort things out. 1 tabbymonroe reacted to this
Rootman 1,101 Posted August 16, 2012 I was on a roller coaster ride too, so it affects the guys as well. As pointed out, stored hormones in the fat, caloric limitations and ketosis all effect your blood chemistry and therefore your brain and mood. On top of that I was on testosterone replacement therapy and had to cut WAY WAY back on my dosage as I got smaller. It too contributed to my frustration level. If it's real bad go see the doc, perhaps an RX is in order. It DOES seem to level out but so far at closing in on 2 years it hasn't totally evened out for me. 1 tabbymonroe reacted to this
thinoneday 445 Posted August 16, 2012 I was like that too, only mine was for the better. . .my hubbie told me i was so much easier to get along with and had less mood swings. I noticed that i was much more relaxed and calm. . .maybe it was because i knew i finally was at peace with myself. . even now at 3 years out, i notice that i'm much more calm and tolerant. . . i feel bad for those who are the opposite and feel miserable. . it makes it much more harder. . . 1 tabbymonroe reacted to this
