The Most Embarrassing Fat Moment....

Recommended Posts

something similar happened to me.. i was hospitalized for liver failure (pharmaceutical error, not mine or the doctor's).. basically i was on percocet for a leg cramp that wouldn't go away.. and i almost died, because of acetaminophen poisoning.. which is the active ingredient in tylenol as well... anyway.. no one could figure out what was wrong with my leg, so they wanted to have an mri done.. i was 420 lb at the time & am EXTREMELY claustrophobic.. ended up freaking out before the (very rude guy) managed to squish me all the way into the machine... and boy was he trying... it was embarrassing, and the guy being rude didn't help matters, either... so i feel for you. :/ sorry you had to go through that. :/

Sorry you had to endure a medical error!! That truly sounds very painful and unpleasant!!! Did you suffer any long term implications? I sure hope not!! Your photo tells me your doing a lot better these days!!! ;)

Yes, squish is right!! So uncomfortable! I went to three machines in three days!!!! I have yet to have an MRI. I am also VERY claustrophobic and to add insult to injury they have to put this cage like apparatus completely over my head. I took zanax, per the doctor. Well, that was insane!!! Maybe I am not meant to have an MRI. Perhaps whatever is causing these seizures will have to me okay for a while.. I feel so defeated and stuck!

Thank you for sharing your story with me. Sounds like I am not alone. I am thankful that they were able to just stick your arm in!!! What a relief!!! I wish I could just stick my caged head in!!! Not that lucky so far!!!

Best,

Sannah

oh i didn't get an MRI.. they couldn't do it.. cause i was too fat.. but the guy that was trying to squish me into the machine was jerking my arms around and kept sighing like "UGH!!!!" and kept acting like he was just very annoyed that i was even in his presence.. and he was fat himself. lol

what happened in regards to my leg is that.. the last day i was in the hospital, i was about to do my physical therapy & i got a new physical therapist & she had me do a couple exercises & said "you have a pulled hamstring"... so i almost died over a pulled hamstring that gave me a 3 1/2 hour long charlie horse.. how dumb is that?.. and it's even more stupid that the doctors didn't have any idea what was causing my leg pain at all.. they did several ultrasounds & hooked me up to every machine they could find, but couldn't figure it out.. but a physical therapist, on my last day there, took about 45 seconds to diagnose my problem without any machinery at all. What the F?.. lol $40,000, 2 emergency room trips to 2 different hospitals, 1 week in the ICU & a near death experience later... they find out it was a pulled hamstring. -_- really made me lose faith in medicine... and to answer your question, i don't have any permanent damage, but i'm very lucky.. and i am forbidden from ever taking anything with tylenol in it again for the rest of my life.

in regards to your MRI.. i hope everything will go well & i'm happy you got an open one scheduled. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
