I have my consultation with my surgeon tomorrow 8/16. This will be my second visit with him. On the first visit a month ago he asked that I had an EKG, start on my CPAP machine and lose 10 lbs. Well I had the EKG done and it came back normal, I started the CPAP trail and did well even if I hate the machine but I am still waiting to have mine delivered, and the 10 lbs. ugh!!! on my scale I have dropped the 11 lbs. but then I think my scale is like 4 lbs. off from the dr.'s office scale. I still have today and tomorrow to workout and maybe drop another 2 lbs.

Should I just reschedule my appointment, or just go and see what happens? I am so nervous. I have been trying all month to lose the 10 lbs. In regards to the cpap machine that is out of my control as the medical store has yet to ship it.

Thanks.

Do not reschedule - you may be surprised what you do on the scale. I think all surgeon's expect their patients to not get to the goal. You have made significant strides and you will still have time before surgery to drop the additional 2-4 pounds.

Go get 'em Tiger! :)

I agree with UTGal - You never know what your body will be at tomorrow. Plus, some surgeons are less strict than others, and I think that if he sees you have been complying with his instructions that you will be fine. I think usually pre-op weight loss is half about decreasing medical risks and half about making sure that you are willing/able to be compliant with the directions, and less about an exact number (Heck, I fluctuate like 3-4 pounds over the day because of Water sometimes).

If you are really stressing about it, you could always call their office and speak to a medical assistant and let them know. They will probably give you the ok to come in anyway, but maybe it will give you a little peace of mind.

Don't reschedule. Take this opportunity to practice being very honest with your surgeon and his staff about how you are doing. Most doctors know enough about the human body and obesity that they understand losing 10 pounds is a struggle--and they know all too well about delays and bottlenecks in medical equipment and such. The surgeon's office may even be able to make a few calls and speed up the delivery of your CPAP machine. Just be prepared to give him a status update and you will be fine.

You guys were right, the body does amazing things. I went to see the surgeon today and I dropped the 10 lbs. I needed to drop. He went over all my medical history and we went ahead and set up the date. I will have my surgery on Sept. 13th. Yay!! He had an opening for the 27th. but it was to soon for me because of work.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
