Day of surgery my overall discomfort and pain was 10/10. severe Pain, severe nasua, bloated feeling, sore back and throat made it 10/10. the first words when i came too was FML. but with morphine and the reduced bloating it came down to a 5 by day 2. Day 3 it came down to 4. when i was discharged it was around a 3, more soreness than pain. Just and FYI , when coughing, sneezing or laughing after surgery you want to brace your stomach to reduce the pain.

Everyone's different, but I felt fine after two days. And the worst I ever felt was about at a 2 or 3 and I'm a pain wimp. It's honestly not horrible at all. My wife had the sleeve a few days ago, and she's having some pain, but she had a lap band to sleeve conversion, and so she's dealing with other things as well. I say honestly to not worry about it. The IV was more pain with that first stick. ;)

I was sleeved on 8/8/2012... My pain out of surgery was a 5... 3 days out I was off pain meds. My doctor gave me medication prior to surgery so I wouldn't feel any nausea after surgery. That really helped... Nothing at all!

I would recommend taking all the prescribed medications for as long as it says. For the ones that are as needed, there's no shame in taking them until you can deal with the pain off of them. If you don't need to be off of them for a job or for safety reasons, they're there to help you. That being said, just take it easy post-op....get friendly with your neighborhood Redbox, and enjoy some lazy time before you truly begin your new life with the sleeve.

Surgery was 9/1/12 Woke up and was short of breath but knew it was the gas, had a pain lvl of about 2, it was more discomfort from the gas so I got up and went to walking. Now I was 530lbs so they were nervous if I would land on my head so soon after surgery I kinda got a chuckle out of that which hurt like hell lol. (don't laugh that soon lol)

The gas will move and the discomfort will fade as for actual pain I only had it at the incision points but not for a week later but that is to be expected, don't be afraid, just keep in mind that whatever you go thru now is worth it to be a normal size again. That is my focus my knees still limit me I can't do much walking yet but it will come. I am 3 weeks post and am down 40lbs as of sunday and today is thurs so who knows what it will be when I weigh again this weekend. Just keep focused on a smaller you and you will do fine we are all here for you. Kevin

Had my surgery 4 days ago and am actually surprised by the "lack" of pain.

I was hooked up to a morphine pump the first day and just kept pushing it thinking I would head off any pain.

Took some liquid pain meds they gave me on day 2 and 3 and just one dose on day 4.

Today is day 5 and I haven't taken anything all day.

I'm a little sore when I stand after sitting for a few seconds but that's about it.

Very low on the pain scale, fairly high on the misery scale. I woke with some naseau that was horrible. They had hit me with all the drugs to prevent it and were running out of options, but one last medication did the trick and it wasn't a big problem after the initial horrible waking up. I think waking up from surgery is both wonderful (I am alive!!!) but also terrible (my goodness I feel horrid).

So, after the nasuea was under control, I felt better then I expected. I had a little gas pain in the shoulder but did lots of walking and it helped.

The hardest part was the exhaustion and "blahs" I had the first 4-6 weeks post op in my experience.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
