What Is Your Most Embarrassing Moment At Restaurant

Recommended Posts

Was at black angus with my hubby and the gal asked me if I needed an armless chair..she actually brought it to the table after I was already sitting down (just fine I might say) and she said she thinks I'd be more comfortable in that chair...I told her no I'm fine really...I still had inches on each side of me!!! Anyone else have this happen?

I truly believe that they should teach servers in restaurants to have more compassion. My husband and myself are both overweight in other words fat. 2 out of 3 times they try to put us in a small booth. It should be in training if fat people come in put at a table. It's as if they can not see.

I suppose you meant pre-sleeve...

Well... my most embarrassing moment was post-sleeve...

When I finished my meal.... had a sip of Water, and all of a sudden ....... this great big glop of slime came out of my mouth onto the plate....

I feel your pain Shelli, the same thing happened to me. I'm planning a trip to an amusement park 6 months postop as part of my "hello me" tour. :-)

Exact same thing happened to me. It was the first time I had ever had anything like that happen to me. I was 17 and it was the Batman the Ride ride at Six Flags Over Texas. It was mortifying! I haven't been back to Six Flags since (I'm 27 now) but I'm going this Sunday, for the first time, to make that ride my b***h, and I can not wait! Haha

When I was 17 (about 210lbs) and a senior we were going to Cedar Point for our senior trip and I couldn't fit on the seat for the millenium force..Neither could a friend, so at least we got to sit out together. They made us try the test seat (Which is better than waiting in line and finding out that you don't fit I guess) in front of all our friends, it was mortifying. I cannot wait to go back someday and prove to myself that I beat that ride.

I haven't had a lot of restaurant embarrassments thankfully. This is probably because I avoid them a lot of the time. I do worry often whether or not I will fit in a booth. I dread going to Outback because I have to squeeze so much into the booths that I feel super uncomfortable.

I just think they should ask where the person wants to sit. I've never had a problem with booths, even at my heaviest and to automatically assume that since someone is large they need a table could be seen as offensive as well. I prefer booths for the privacy.

Mine didn't happen in a restaurant but at Astroworld in Houston. I was around 225, 70 pounds lighter than I am now and 20 years ago. I was getting on the tidal wave and they had a hard time closing the lap bar, til a couple of workers forced it to close...talk about red faced. I didn't enjoy the ride and I never got on another ride again.

Good old Astroworld. That brings back some memories. I used to ride the cable cars over and over again because there was no problem fitting in there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
