Aaron in Tulsa 147 Posted August 14, 2012 I went to my first support group meeting today. Absolutely WORTHLESS. It was basically an excuse for the presiding doctor (not my doctor) to talk about himself. It made me incredibly grateful for VST, the people here, and the help I'm getting. I don't believe I'd be confident AT ALL in this journey if I only had the "support" group to go on. 3 isajck, Lissa and Piplula reacted to this
Lissa 2,631 Posted August 14, 2012 As I've said before, and will probably say again, VST is my support group. 2 Piplula and lessofmeismore reacted to this

LeahDiarrhea 50 Posted August 14, 2012 I love how you can find pretty much whatever you are looking for here! Sent from my iPhone using VST
Piplula 709 Posted August 14, 2012 Completely agree with what everyone else has said. I am 2 1/2 hours from my surgical center and there are no support groups in West Tennessee for this type of surgery. So, this is my support group and I have to say..one of the most knowledgeable groups on the net that is specific to the procedure we have had done!
Back~To~Amy 307 Posted August 14, 2012 This group is great. I'm sorry the support group you attended wasn't. In my area, we have a wonderful one run by a psychologist whose expertise is bariatric patients. He does a monthly and a weekly group and I attend both. As much as I love VST, I need live support too. Best of luck to you in your journey!
danyelleb 386 Posted August 14, 2012 Yes! I seriously LOVE me some VST too. I'm mildly interested in a live support group, but I've heard mixed reviews about the one in my area. Maybe some day I'll go. I really find VST to meet that need. I check in throughout the day on my phone- sometimes I reply, other times I just read. I'm five months out and I still check in ALOT. I find it keeps me grounded and it's a lot more beneficial than reading celebrity gossip in my down time. Lol!
