What Has Been The Funniest Response To Your Weight Loss?

Recommended Posts

so, let's hear the funniest response to your weight loss.

For me, it was my 11 year old nephew. I hadn't seen him in a long time, and, when he found out that I had lost 100 pounds, his response was 'he's lost 100 POUNDS!?!?!? I wonder if he's still funny?'

When I finally got to see him the next week, I told him that I was sorry, but all of my funny melted off.

So, what's yours?

That's a funny story! So far, I can't think of anything funny that has been said to me, but I have not been at this for more than two months. But I do get amused sometimes when someone notices my weight loss and then gets all awkward about complimenting me because they think I might have been insulted by the compliment so they say..."not that you weren't beautiful before..."

I am glad all your funny didn't really melt off!

After losing 85 pounds of the 116, someone you see almost every day asks: "Have you lost weight?"

Really? I thought I was oblivious sometimes. I could only say, "Uh, yeah."

My daughter (she will be 4 in a few months) was looking at an OLD work ID picture. OLD from pre-lapband, even. I was around 400 lbs. I had a major, major round/pie face. She was like, "Mommy? Is that you?" I told her it was. And she said, "You kind of look like you. But kind of not. Did you got a new head?"

I recently straightened my hair, and cut it into a completely new style. I'd been wanting to for a while, but wanted to wait until my face had slimmed down a bit. So I've had the new style for a bit over a week. And I keep hearing, "Oh, I love your hair! It makes you look so much thinner!" And as I posted on MFP - Oh, or maybe it has something to do with the 85 lbs I've lost in the last 4.5 months, you jackhole! :)

Just an hour ago, one of the secretaries in my office asked if I had had my eyes done. She knew there was something different about me but she couldn't figure out what. I just said, "Yep!" and kept walking.

Funniest- maybe not. Coolest... yes!!!

I got out of a speeding ticket cause my drivers lic pic was insanely different than what I look like now.

After I convinced him that yes.... it IS me- he asked what happened. I told him about the surgery and he was pretty curious about the process and in the end let me go with a warning (warning to keep away from carbs and keep up the cardio!)

Yay for awesome life changes and the perks that go with them!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
