I am one month away from my sleeve date of 9/11. My anxiety is so bad right now, I don't know how I'm going to get through the month. One day I'll be fine, then the next day I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to do this. Is this normal? How can I get through it?

My date is coming up as well and its really just starting to hit me. Its entirely normal to be feeling the way you do as its HUGE change and something we will need to live with for the rest of our lives. I am sure this was not a decision that you came to lightly and that you have researched researched and researched. I keep thinking about the things i will be able to do that i haven't been able to do or things i cant wait to wear. Its hard work but we can do this!! Good luck!

What you are going through is very normal. Everyone goes through these emotions. Here are a few entries from my blog regarding my fears. I had my surgery on February 16th. So look at the dates to see my pre-surgery fears. You may also want to read some entries of how things went for me after surgery to give you an idea of what to expect. http://jfabulous43.wordpress.com/tag/fear/

Totally normal and everyone goes through it. One thing I found that helped me through it was listing all the things I hated about being overweight (a very long list!) and all the reasons I wanted to get to a healthier weight and the things that would be great about being a healthy weight, like being able to shop for regular sizes, keeping up with my kids, being ALIVE to see my kids graduate highschool, college, get married, have grandchildren, etc. You get the idea. Whenever I would have second thoughts or get really nervous I would review my list. The list was also really helpful post-op during the first week when I was struggling a bit and wondering why I did this to myself.

I also spent a lot of time looking at before and after photos of people who had the surgery. Not only was it inspiring, it helped to get me excited about it.

The surgery is surprisingly easy for most. If you are worried about how your life will change afterward, I can honestly say that I do not miss eating what I want nearly as much as I LOVE the transformation of my body, my confidence, my energy and more.... and that is only two months in!

At first, I'm totally psyched about getting sleeve. Unfortunately, a week before the surgery, I started to panic. I can't eat properly, I have mood swings, I only sleep 1.5 hours every night and cried during work house in the office wash room :D .

To think about it, what keep me going is to really dig deep into myself and ask "why on earth am i doing this?" .. for me the answer is simple, one day I want to start a family. What about u?

But of course, I am really grateful that I have all the support system that I need and keep me going. My families, friends, and colleagues supports me every step of the way. I used to be such an aloof, go to surgery myself and 3 months from now just suprise my friends in hoping to hear "OMG u look amazing!". As tempting as it sounds :P , there are some things that you just can't go through alone. So find the best support system that u have in your life and go from there.

Wish you all the best! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
