I was sleeved on 8/10 and so far so good until today. I was abled to drink more so i decided to aim for the 64 oz. Ive been drinking the Isopure Alpine punch for Protein, plain room temp Water, sf popcicles, diluted juice. Well today i decided to drink the ensure that i got from the hospital (6oz). Im not sure if that gave me diarrhea or just the increase in liquids. Either way i'm terrified of getting dehydrated. Any suggestions?

A little soon for full liquids? When were you to start the full liquids? According to my schedule full liquids after 7 days of Clear Liquids. You are only 3 days out. I have not been sleeved, but I am long time RN. My suggestion is go back to your clear liquids, sip sip sip. Diarrhea may be due to your system not being ready for it. Signs and symptoms of dehydration: dark urine, dry mucous membranes, suncan eyes, weakness, muscle cramps. Feel better and Good luck!

I had my surg 8/7. My dr said clears two days and full liquids 12days. That is the new bariatric recomemded died. Im doing fine. The loose stools are probably due to all the fluids. Im also an RN

Goes to show you, every surgeon has their own formula. Still, ensure causes diarrhea in many patients/ people.

I'm 2 weeks out and have yet to have a "solid" BM - just moved to the pureed stage. I'm an RN as well. liquid in, liquid out as they say. Just keep sipping your fluids as you should - you will be fine.

I was on clear liquids for a week, then I graduated to full liquids. The Glucerna my Surgeon had me drinking the 2 weeks prior to surgery gave me the runs bad. It is a similar thing to Ensure. I was actually nervous about losing my bowels during surgery it was so bad. Fortunately, they had me cleanse my bowels first. Now, 8 weeks post-op, sometimes my muscle milk light makes me make a mad dash for the bathroom. I think all of these drinks are super sweet and that is what causes the problem for me.

Muscle Milk has the same affect on me, and I gave it up. I switched to Isopure shakes and it's been better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
