jennrus 176 Posted August 13, 2012 My surgeon is very large. I want to ask him why he hasn't had surgery. Isn't that odd?
KS Fort Worth 86 Posted August 13, 2012 No, it's a fair question. Mine is normal weight.

New1 201 Posted August 13, 2012 My doc has the lapband. He has had it for 10 years (I think) and has lost and kept off 50 lbs. so he's normal weight. As a matter of fact everyone in the office has either done medical or surgical weight loss.

Aaron in Tulsa 147 Posted August 13, 2012 My doc is normal size, but the other doc in his office is definitely not. I agree with O.T.R. Glad I picked my surgeon!

My aunt went to him and she said he had his done right after her. Yes, everyone, including the main two dieticians, have had WLS. I think that's why they are so realistic about the expectations. It's very comforting. 1 NettyD reacted to this
NtvTxn 1,262 Posted August 31, 2012 My surgeon is very large. I want to ask him why he hasn't had surgery. Isn't that odd? Odd, but not uncommon with doctors. My husband's back surgeon, who by the way had been the orthopedic guy for the US Ski team at one time.....he's located in the Denver area. He told my husband that he NEEDED back surgery but had not had surgery because he didn't trust anyone else but himself!! LOL A healthy ego I'd say....painful though!!! gustavo52974 369 Posted August 31, 2012 My surgeon has a swimmer's build. I wouldn't trust a fat doctor no less a weight loss surgeon. Maybe it's a personal failing of mine, but I feel like people need to look the part. Mine was Dr. Menish Parikh in Bellevue Hospital in NYC--I haven't seen anyone else on here who went to him.
