luckylady131 51 Posted August 13, 2012 I am 2 weeks out today, so I know it's still early for me. It seems weird to me because before my life didn't really revolve around food like it does now! Before I just ate when I was hungry, but ate too much and the wrong kinds if foods. But now I have set my phone alarms to remind me to eat Breakfast, lunch, and dinner and 2 Snacks. I am never hungry. I have to make sure I'm getting enough Protein. I have to make sure the foods I eat are puréed enough. I have to make sure I drink enough....which I don't. I feel like I'm constantly putting something in my mouth. I'm afraid of drinking too much at once. I don't really have any issues with food, but Protein shakes (any kind) make me run to the bathroom soon afterwards. It's very hard for me to drink enough throughout the day. Plain Water still make me feel nauseated and gross. But I can do crystal light without issues. I'm just trying to get into a good food routine. It will probably be easier once my kids start school. Right now I usually have a Greek yogurt for breakfast, a Protein shake for lunch, and something else for dinner. I'm still. OT good at getting my snacks in. Sometimes I have a laughing cow cheese, or Bella cheese for a snack. And yes I have some great water bottles that I like, I'm just trying to get better at using them! What is everyone else's eating schedule? 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this

kimmy*custis 276 Posted August 13, 2012 I felt the same way, I have to think more about food now than I did before! Sounds like you are on the right track. Your body will tell you when it is ready for a change, mine did. I really didnt have much of an issue getting into the good food routine, there are sooo many good choices out there if you really look. I am doing much better now, 6 months out. I can eat pretty much anything with no issues. Best of luck to you!
CJinMichigan 14 Posted August 13, 2012 I am almost 9 months post-op. I usually eat breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, and dinner. If dinner was early I might have an evening snack. Soon you will start to feel hungry again; also you will get into a routine and not have to think about it so much. Good luck on your journey to good health. ugot2laff 35 Posted August 13, 2012 I'm 2 weeks post op also, but my Dr. has me on a strick diet still of 3 Protein Shakes a day and just Clear Liquids. Can't even have pureed foods for 2 more weeks. A tip for getting your liquids in which has worked for me. I have a container which is 32 oz. I mix crystal light lemon flavored iced tea in it. Then I slice lemons and limes in it, and buy a can of no sugar added fruit cocktail and put half of that with the juice in it. Very refreshing in the heat and I seem to be able to get that all down instead of the Water. I wish you luck on your journey!! 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted August 13, 2012 before my life didn't revolve around food luckylady131 are you already eating, or are you just drinking. If you're just drinking - you will not necessarily feel full - but once you start eating - you will appreciate that full feeling before WLS i thought about food way too often now in our new lifestyle with the sleeve, I think about food/liquids alot, just in a different way. I now carefully plan what i'm going to eat for the day, i'm concentrating on chewing alot, eating slowly, and eating healthier, like i'm supposed to. i also put my utencil down between bites. i never did this stuff before, but i must now getting all my Water in for the day - remembering not to drink til an hour after meals, never have a problem with not drinking with meals - i would rather drink while i eat, but i know i'm not supposed to, so i don't Eating is now a new ballgame ,since the sleeve, i do think about food/drink alot - but i don't mind, cuz i know i'm eating healthier, living better and feeling much happier the fact i have to do this for the rest of my life, it will be hard at times - but the positives do outweight the negatives eat to live, not live to eat good luck kathy 1 Red597 reacted to this
luckylady131 51 Posted August 13, 2012 Oh, that's the other thing - not drinking with meals. I don't "drink" with meals, but I have to take a sip usually about twice. I only take in enough to coat my mouth. Before surgery I always drank with my meals, so that's a big change for me.
