I was sleeved July 12. The past couple weeks I have been feeling pretty good, no pain, light exercise etc. Saturday morning I woke up with a stabbing pain right above my right hip. Thinking it was my appendix I went to the e.r. right by my house. They said my labs were fine and i wasnt dying and sent me home. Still in lots of pain, I went to the e.r in the next town over, about 30 mins away. I told the e.r. doc there I wanted to know why I hurt so bad. He felt my stomach and said something was wrong. He ordered ct scan for my appendix. Couldn't see much of my appendix so couldn't exactly rule that out. Then be ordered a gallbladder ultrasound. The just showed that it was really large and I had stones, which I knew already. So he called the surgeon and asked if I could be admitted and the surgeon did. I got to my room about 10pm and the surgeon was in to see me around 12:30am to talk to me. He said he would see how my labs looked in the morning. He came back around 8:30am and felt my stomach and decided it was a good idea to take it out. Surgery was at 9:30 yesterday morning. Everything went awesome. Surgeon came in later and told me it was a very good thing he had taken it out. My gallbladder had been blocked for quite awhile, so long that the bile in my gallbladder was clear. The inside membrane of my gallbladder had absorbed the pigment of the bile. He said that is extremely rare. I was released from hospital later that day. What a coincidence though that I had my sleeve on the 12th and gallbladder out a month later on the 12th.

Wow, sorry you had to go thru all that. Why didnt they take it out when they did your sleeve? Sure would have been easier on you! Best of luck for a speedy recovery!

Yeah the day of my sleeve I told my surgeon I was having some pain but he decided not to take it out. It would have been a lot better having them out at the same time. Oh well this is just a hurdle during my journey.

oh My! Well I'm glad your doing well now. I am so afraid of that happening to me. The 17th marks my 1 month sleeve anniversary. I haven't had any pains yet and hopefully I won't.

I hope nobody ever has to go through what I did. I had stones for years and I told my surgeon that so he should have just taken it out during my sleeve surgery. But its ok.

What do u think was worse. The sleeve surgery, or gallbladder? I'm scheduled 9/11.I had my gallbladder out 3 years ago which was a breeze compared to my c-sections. Wondering if it's similar to the sleeve ?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
