MISSMEWITHIT 2 Posted August 13, 2012 i'm 7 weeks post op. I was 324 and I'm down 40lbs im watching what i eat and im also working out everyday n im just not seeing the weight come off. I realize that its not going to come off over night but with the amount of food that im eating now compared to what i use to eat it seems like i would have lost more, plus im working out too. i cant figure out whats going on. Am i doing something wrong is this normal ?
CJinMichigan 14 Posted August 13, 2012 Perhaps your metabolism has slowed way down due to the small amount of calories you are eating. In the beginning I was advised by my nut. to eat about 900 calories; I knew that was too low for me and have eaten about 1500-1800 since I was back on normal foods. Eating small amounts of calories leads to your body slowing things down to keep the weight. I average 1-2 pounds a week and for the past 9 months it has worked for me. Be patient, remember, slow and steady wins the race.
Alaina Sampica Miller 3 Posted August 13, 2012 Actually that sounds about right. my surgeon says about a pound a day. so you are 49 days post op and 40lbs down. that sounds about right. I know we expect it to come off so fast, but it will work out in the end eating right and working out will pay off in the end. just remember how far you have come. keep your head up and dont give up. I know that everyone is different, but i would go by what ur nutirtionist says, they are supposed to know what they are talking about. I would talk to him or her next visit. sramos89 260 Posted August 13, 2012 OMG! 40 pounds in 7 weeks! That is amazing! Congrats- The surgery is not magic and it is coming off fast. It you continue at this rate look at where you will you be in a year! AND you probably didn't gain 40 pounds in 7 weeks- Good job!

MISSMEWITHIT 2 Posted August 13, 2012 I would like to thank everybody for they're comment I was so sure that I was doing something wrong or that I wasnt losing like everybody else. But after reading some of your comment I now see that really, I'm not in that bad shape after all. In that I need to be gateful for what I did lose and concentrate on losing more. Thank You Guys for bringing me back down to earth.
Alaina Sampica Miller 3 Posted August 13, 2012 well thats what we are here for. I am post op of 17 days.. and have lost about 16lbs... to let you know my mom had a bypass about 11 years ago. and sometimes you will go at a standstill, but its okay. like the other comment just think of where you will be in a year if you are losing 40lbs in less thsn 2 months.. that would be over 200 lbs in a year... if you look at it that way... thats crazy fast. good luck
Robyn Owens-Miille 132 Posted August 13, 2012 40 lbs in 7 weeks is AWESOME!!!! That's just at a pound a day or -140,000 calories. When else would you have thought that over 5 lbs a week was slow?????
