tabbymonroe 108 Posted August 12, 2012 The end of next week i.want to walk and jog and workout is it too soon just had surgery August
Lissa 2,631 Posted August 12, 2012 Yes. It's too soon to do anything more than walking. My doc said walking only for the first six weeks, then I could ease into weight lifting. Jogging would definitely be too much this early. 2 Finding MeMe and PEvette reacted to this
PEvette 297 Posted August 12, 2012 Yes it is too soon, I'm surprise you doctor or the hospital didnt tell you not to do those things before you left.....
morthnaprtyfac1 17 Posted August 12, 2012 It depends on your physician. I was playing softball at 2wks out. 1 tabbymonroe reacted to this

DivaK 55 Posted August 12, 2012 I would just stick to walking. If you walk on a treadmill increase your speed and give it a slight incline lift. I will be six weeks on Monday and can't wait to be able to do some light weight lifting. I have a doctor's appointment the following week and I need to inquire about the ability to do sit-ups... 1 PEvette reacted to this
Finding MeMe 204 Posted August 12, 2012 Lissa is on point, I always worked out heavy before surgery and so was doing the eliptical, power walking, and lots of lower body workouts at around 10 days out. Talk to you physician it depends on how you are healing, your previous fitness level and your energy level. Good luck to you. 1 tabbymonroe reacted to this
Sherry77 166 Posted August 12, 2012 I would ask your md at your next post-op viit. I had my 10 day post op appt and was told I could swim in another week.
susanfaye 162 Posted August 12, 2012 My surgeon says wait two weeks for swimming because of the incisions. Everything else they say is up to how you feel individually. I would say listen to your body when it says enough is enough or too much. I was also sleeved on aug 6th and I have been walking. In another week I will be playing basketball again. Just waiting more the main incision to heal a little more first.
