Well I was sleeved on 2/13/12 and was 320lbs at my heaviest. I am currently 205lbs and feel like my progress has came to a halt. I lost over 100lbs in a little over 4 months. Then from 210 to 205 took about a month and now i have been at 205 since 7/12 (1 month)... I feel like i can eat more now then ever and I have been drinking diet soda's (i pour them over lots of ice to let the fizz out a little) I was exercising for about a month of my journey but I stopped going since I started working again. I do try to eat home cooked meals with lots of Protein and stay away from fast food and junk food. I have been cheating with granola bars like crazy those nature valley oats and honey ones. Also wondering what is the normal comfortable drink limit for 5 or 6 months post op, I can take 3 small drinks from a glass before i feel the pressure and put the cup down.. Just worried my sleeve is stretched and not working anymore :(

Your sleeve is not stretched, it is simply healed.

As far as it working, it never has, you were working it. Your sleeve is just a tool, if you don't use the tool it can't help you.

It looks to me like you already know why you are not losing, it's completely up to you. You can use your tool and your self dicipline to lose more. Or you can eat around the sleeves limitations and fall back into the old way of life.

Wow. We were sleeved on the exact same day. I thought 86 lbs was doing pretty good. You've done GREAT!

Start logging your food and try to get that exercise in! Sodas are toxic waste. Even if there was no controversy over sodas and sleeve stretching...just read the ingredients. You can clean car batteries with that stuff! BLECH! (former DC addict speaking;) ) I honestly think they kept me fat somehow.

I get really thirsty and try to chug drinks and just can't do it. I take a few swallows and then wait a bit then a few more. Then I have to wait a longer time or I'll feel sick. Everyone's drinking returns at different rates I guess.

Hi,

I dont think stretched yet,but it might if you keep up with the fizzy drinks.

Sometimes I think it is because we feel so much better that we start becoming complacent and indifferent to what we eat.On the other hand life is back to normal and we get use to the sleeve.

You know what the problem is.Those nature valley bars taste great but lots of sugar.one has 190 calories in them (ok,the 2 in the wrapper)I know,I have looked at them plenty of times already..lol

Just sit down, decide what is important.Just because we can eat more doesnt mean we have to.

Get carrot sticks, cucumber sticks...you will not be able to eat to much of those,it fills up very quickly.Cut some of the snacking, have an extra cup of tea.

Just make a few good choices again and your weight will start moving again.

NO FIZZY DRINKS!

Good luck and look at how far you have come. You can finish this!

Wow, your story is close to mine. I too weighed 320 at surgery and now I'm stuck at 205. I got down to 198 but I've been fluctuating between 200 and 205 for about a month now. I contribute it to a couple of things. One, I graze too much. I work the midnight shift and I have Snacks at work like almonds, pretzel sticks, and greek yogurt and if I have nothing going on and I'm bored I keep pulling then out of my locker and munching on them. I need to keep it to a small amount every night. Second, I'm close to goal, like 20 lbs, and I think my body just wants to hang onto these last few lbs. It's going to take some serious exercise to get to goal I think. The good thing is that I've had no trouble maintaining this weight so if I can just get to goal I believe I can stay there. Good luck to you and me both in kicking 205!

graze too much.

Greg

My NUT told me to have 3 meals a day - no Snacks

she explained that for me, if i have 2 Snacks, i might eat more often during the day, turning into a grazer.

it is hard not to have snacks - but i stick to it - ok, on a rare occasion i might sneak something in, nothing bad, cuz i don't have anything like that at home.

i'm lucky i don't have kids at home. One kid, my DH.

Tom is obese (hate that word)I don't buy chips, Cookies et al so he can't have at home, mainly so i can't have at home.

If i were to sneak/graze i couldn't reach in pantry and attack cookies/chips & dip et. al. -you know the drill

For me, it is just easier to eat those 3 meals a day, no snacks, if i'm allowed "one" - i'll overdue with all

hope that helps

kathy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
