Less Than 48Hrs Till Sleeve

Recommended Posts

Well hello! I am getting so excited and nervous about my vsg on Monday!! Any words of advice, what your surgical experience was like, or encouraging support welcome. Looking forward to meeting some nice friends on here. BTW, who are they kidding with this pre-surgical Fluid diet?!? If I could just do this, I wouldn't need the surgery! Already missing food...

I'm day 5 post op and it has been harder than I'd anticipated. Just stay positive and know that in the end you won't regret this.

My sleeve was done last month. The surgery was not too bad. There will be some discomfort but you will have pain meds to combat it. You can also given IV meds for nausea if you experience it. You will be feeling better in just a few days. I actually went back to work exactly one week after my surgery. I wish you the best of luck! Don't worry...you'll do fine and, trust me, you will loose weight!

Good Luck!!

I agree that the pre-op diet just sucks!! It makes me think about food more than I should. I keep thinking I'm never going to eat again!! (I'm on my 5th day)

Anyhooooo-Monday is almost here & I wish you the best!

Just remember to follow your Drs instructions about post op "eating" it's important to your healing and recovery. It may seem like it'll take forever, but you will get to eat real food again. It's worth the wait

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
