Recommended Posts

I started full liquids and I am SO full. How do you get all the Water and the Protein in now? I spend every second sipping something.

During full liquids, I wasn't drinking much Water. Pretty much 3-4 Protein Shakes plus one bottle of water a day. I was shooting for 60g or Protein a day. Now that I am on solids, my protein intake is higher.

Looks like I'm gonna be the odd man out in this one, I would love to see you get all your protien in, but hydration is priority #1. You are still healing your stomach is still swollen, asthe swelling goes down, this will all get easier, but for now, Water is your best friend. If you have to give up some protien to get more Water, do it.

Just in case I wasn't clear, drink water.

You can put some Protein Powder in your Soup, blend it with a little milk a natural one and add it to creamy Soups if you have them (its kinda gross with non creamy soups)

I don’t know what you were told but I wasn’t expected to get 100g of Protein in every day to start with I was told try and get in as much as you can between 50-100g a day but don’t worry.

Water wasn’t my friend so I drank Decaf tea a lot still do and flavoured water but check the labels on the flavoured water some are nasty buggers full of crap.

I was one of the people told Fluid intake was far more important than protein for the first few weeks.

But yeah you do feel like your constantly drinking taking a med drinking a med drining drinking drink when you move on its then the waiting between eating and drinking too lol

If you can stand like hot water with lemon in it try that warmer drinks tend to go down easier, if I liked hot water I would have sipped on that instead!

Just do what you can do and don’t feel you HAVE to do what other people are or were doing at the same stage as long as your doc/nurse/nut are ok with how your going you will be fine.

As a nurse I would say hydration is key drink your Water as priority 1 you don't want to end up in the hospital due to dehydration.Your stomach will heal and you can work your way up to taking in enough Protein over time a little more everyday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
