Surgery in Manila, Philipines

I had a Midband inplanted on June 1, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital in Manila, Philipines. I was very please with the hospital and care. I had a stroke last year and went to a very well know facility in the mainland USA. I would say to my surprise the hospital in the Philipines was better. My room had a TV, VCR, Fax, Highspeed internet, Computer, refrigerator, Microwave, living room. It was great. The nursing staff and doctors in the team were great. The hospital is highly rated and U.S. certified with more equipment than 95% percent of U.S hospitals. My doctor is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and a member in the American Bariatric Society. His name is Dr. Hildegard Dineros and he trained in both the U.S. and France. I would highly recomend this option to anyone especially those that are expats living in the part of the world. I would also note that my insurance company covered all but $600.00 of my surgery.

Hey guamtab, I just want to invite you to post for our Filipino kababayans (local folks). I created a local support group. You will find the Philippines Local Support by clicking:

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f77/philippines-local-lap-band-support-93321/

or by going to the Local Lab-Band Support Forum --> Elsewhere Local Support Group ----> Philippines Local Support Group.

Maybe you can post a testimonial there! Thank you! Ingat (take care)!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
