Surgery In 1Day 21 Hours!

Recommended Posts

I am getting sleeved Monday at 530! It is so surreal, and I am getting a little scared. I am in a Pre op diet...liquids, yogurt, cottage cheese, Popsicles and stuff. But I will admit I have not been faithful to it :(. In my manual it says if you dont follow it take two bottles of mag citrate. And it says if you do follow it take one? I am def sticking to it tomorrow the day before surgery, and I will probably stay on the toilet all day O.o. I am hoping I won't have a lot of pain or stay knocked out the whole time. I guess I haven't really prepared myself for this moment. I have prepared for the post op diet and I know what I have to do, I have prepared for the emotional toll I will have when my body is changing, but I haven't really prepared for this one moment. I have never has surgery, so I don't know what to expect. :S

You sound exactly like me. My surgery is 5:45 Monday and I didnt really stick to my pre-op either but plan to do all liquids today and tomorrow too. But I still have lost 8 lbs so far because it was still a far cry from what I normally ate lol.

So whatever you feel Monday, know that there is someone else going through the exact same thing you are at the same time. I will think the same and maybe it will help make it better. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
