blcavin 18 Posted August 11, 2012 Hello present and future sleevers. I have a question about beer. I don't drink everyday and never have bud I like to drink a beer every now and then. What's your thoughts on having a beer after surgery. Thanks
traceyc 89 Posted August 11, 2012 I have the occasional beer. I try to stick to less carbonated beers and always pour in a glass to get rid of some bubbles. I waited until about 3 months out. I can really only tolerate 1 because they make me so full. I can't remember what it is called but a good wheat beer cut with OJ is a refreshing treat and helps with the carbonation. CoolBreeze 154 Posted August 11, 2012 I asked my dr. the same question and he told me beer has no nutritional value so if you're going to have one at least make for something rewarding. As in, as he told me, you lose 10lbs by our next visit and you may have one...just one, to reward yourself. He also suggested (strongly I might add) that the beer be non-alcholic - if at least make it lite. So I would say if you are gonna drink a beer, make it count...as a reward. I am half to that 10lb reward he talked about...I see him on the 27th of Aug. Heineken here I come! I hope this helps with your decision. BTW, my dr also told me not to make it a habit. lol He knows I love my Heineken

Oh yeah, Dr. Brebbia also said to wait about 3-4 months. Now that I'll do.
MrBig 17 Posted August 11, 2012 There is alot of Vitamin B in Beer.... Well... having said that, I cant chug as much or as fast as I used too... which kinda irritates me cos all my drinking buddies think I'm sick or facing some serious problems ... ( I havent told them abt the sleeve). Well.... on the other hand... it is nice to finally be able to drink at a leisurely pace for a change and truly enjoy the drink... 1 sabstar22 reacted to this

Heatherr 149 Posted August 22, 2012 I had Blue Moon draught at a tiki hut while on vacation and it was most delicious. Generally the bubbles make it uncomfortable and no way could I do beer straight from the bottle or can.

Maybe by November, I'll be able to indulge! 1 SleeveandRNYchica reacted to this
jason 12 Posted September 3, 2012 I used to drink allllll the time. Well last night I had two sips off of my wife's beer and yes it tasted great. I didn't like the full bloated feeling I got. I guess if I have to have something it'll be a mixed drink. 1 rizabonita reacted to this

A YEAR ! I'd love a Cosmo bout now.
iggychic 1,405 Posted September 3, 2012 You need to wait at least two months from surgery so that the blood thinning effects of the alcohol don't cause problems. That said, my doc says no way to any carbonation until six months to a year.
Jakat 25 Posted September 4, 2012 I am not sleeved yet, but a cousin on my wife's side has been for 15 months. Same thing, he said the carbonation fills u up toooo fast and makes you feel miserable. So he has a shortie of seagrams with just a "splash" of 7-up and sips and enjoys it.
