Recommended Posts

I used a body pillow and supported my torso with it when laying on my side. Made a world of difference

Prissy I know the first week is really hard and emotional I broke down and cried I was tired and had no energy and I'm use to being on the go but I'm going into week three now and I'm my normal self again wait till u can eat mushies it gets so much better. Chin up ur in my prayers! :-)

I finally had my emotional breakdown yesterday 5days post op. I cried and cried until i couldnt breathe a single breath out of my nostrils lol. Good thing is my hubby was there to help cheer me up. I can honestly say yesterday was not one of my good days. Today seems a lot brighter. Im glad to know im not the only one who has broken down. Im also glad to hear your doing better and that hopefully in the next couple of weeks i will start feeling normal again!

Had my breakdown today when my drain fell out and the Dr had me go to hospital. I just kept thinking, "I did this to myself!" We all mourn the old us as we trust we have made a good decision. It doesn't help that I sit herd all by myself all day. All this time alone to think is dangerous. Hugs to you all on this journey. Lol. Maybe thats why they give us so much pain killer-even tho no pain we can dull the crazy in our brain!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
