I have had 3 fills and I am definitly restricted. My problem is it hurts to eat. I know I am chewing and eating slowly but one or two bites and then I am in pain. I have the back ache and shoulder ache from the time after surgery. I can eat crayfish but chicken and beef kill me. i couldn't even eat a scrambled egg today. It even hurts to drink. I am one unhappy camper.

Sounds like you need an unfill, it shoudlnt be like that. You're just too tight.

The doctors in HOUMA have done between 300 andd 400 lap band procedures. We have a support group that meets the last Wednesday of the month at the surgery center. I find the group very helpful and encouraging.

Are they open to everyone or just for people who have had surgery with those Drs?

You are lucky!! Most of us would never get away with eating 2000 calories even if we worked out 2 hours a day. It just goes to show you we shouldn't compare ourselves to anyone else even if we did have the same surgery

I am so glad to read that the half cup is after it has been chewed. I have been eating about 1 cup to 1 1/2 cup since my first fill. I almost fainted on 1/2 cup a day and so I contacted my nutritionist and she said sometimes it's ok to eat that much.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
