I posted earlier when I was in the hospital. My doc said I would be down 40 lbs by 6 weeks. I'm 4 weeks out and have lost 20. I'm happy. I'm ok with the slow weight lost as people aren't as quick to assume you had surgery. And it gives me time to really change my behavior. I love my sleeve and plan to rock it! My goal is to lose another 10 by end of month. From reading all of the threads, it seems we are all losing about the same between 18-20 lbs 4 weeks out. SOrry but that's damn good. I couldn't do this on my own and I tried for 10 years.

Oh and regarding the stalls, my doc said we will experience stalls about every 3 -5 weeks. It's completely normal. She explains that your body is going through so many changes that it needs time to catch up. Just keep doing what we need to do so that our bodies can realize that it's the new normal.

I had surgery on July 24. I have been feeling great. I am in the middle of my second week of soft foods (per Doctors schedule) and am to be moved to "regular" in 4 days. After reading everyone else's post op diet I am nervous he is advancing me too quickly. My Doctors PA said she has not seen a leak in a sleeve pt there since she started working there 5 years ago. I am terrified of doing something to cause a leak. Would u follow doctors plan or do another couple weeks of soft foods?

My doctor only does 1 day of full liquid and then directly to puréed foods. I asked him about this and he said his patients have awesome results and get their energy back much more quickly this way and there has been no evidence that this method causes leaks. Mostly it is people pushing other solids too quickly or not having a good staple line, etc from the get go. If your surgeon is as successful and well known as mine is I would trust him. I am day 2 post op and already on puréed foods and my energy level has not even gone down a tiny bit. If I weren't having side effects from the anesthesia, I could probably walk a couple of miles today.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
