9 Days Out And Getting Frustrated With Myself..

Recommended Posts

Okay so here's the thing. I was sleeved on Monday, July 30th and everything has been normal. Been fine, feeling great despite the gas pain and etc. Went to my post-op yesterday and was cleared to bring in some pureeds. Left there and went out with family to have Breakfast and decided to try an egg. Went down fine and seemed okay. Then as the day progressed, started to have killer chest and stomach pain. Checked online and it said most likely gas pain. Then out of no where I was overcome with chills to a point where I had to put on sweats, socks, under shirt, and sweat shirt...and still get under two blankets. Went to bed with 99.3 and then woke back up around 2 a.m.with a temp of 101.1!! Took some of the layers off and seemed okay. Have been on Heparin shots until yesterday so wondering if anyone else has had anything like this happen? Keep in mind I live in Ga so putting on all that clothes has everyone else thinking I'm crazy....

I'm wondering if you were getting ill already and the egg had little to do with it?

Is your drain and everything out and incisions looking good? Sounds like an infection to me. I was sleeved on the same day and tried egg, too. Didn't work out well for me, either. However, I don't think you would have fever and chills from eating the wrong thing. My doctor says to call him for a temp of over 100........

I ate an egg on pureed and felt fine but then I was told by my Physician Assistant technically egg was considered "soft" food not pureed so I'm waiting until Monday (my 4 weeks) to do it again.

Everything but the fever is in line with it not "being time."

WOW, this is the same thing tht happened to me last night. I had my surgery on Aug 13th so I shouldn't have even attemted and egg. But I ate the white part of of boiled egg and chewed it really well. Then about an hour later I had chills so bad I ws shaking violently. My husband put 3 blankets on me and I still couldnt stop. It hurt bc I was so tensed up. He took my temp and sd I didnt have a fever but I was so scared. Then an hour later I warmed back up after taking my pain medicine. I dont know what it was but it was scary.

I would definitely call your doctor to at least make sure they're aware of it - fever can be a sign of infection/leak. It's probably just a bug/gas, but it's better safe than sorry and this way at least they're aware of it. Feel better soon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
