2 Lbs In The Right Direction!

Recommended Posts

I started my pre pre op ( the stage where I'm

Very conscious about what I eat) last Wednesday. I don't have to start my liquid diet until September 11. But I figured if I can get down 20 lbs by then..and another 20 on the liquids then surgery will be smooth sailing! Well when I weighed myself last Wednesday I was 278. I cut our carbs, stopped the sodas. Watched my Protein intake etc etc, on Sunday I stepped on the scale (I shouldn't have because I told myself I was weighing only once a week! I was discouraged to see that I was still 278! I became very depressed and got

Into the "why do I even bother" mode and ate normal again..ate the bread..had the soda. I weighed myself again today (Wednesday..one week later) and to my surprise I was 276!! I know it's only 2 lbs but its 2 lbs lost! I'm so inspired I had to share :)

This gave me whole new insight. I am back on the bandwagon of good health until my sleeve oct 2:)

That's awesome! Keep up the good work!

I know it has been said time and time again but I fell victim to the situation so.... Make sure to get plenty of calories! I'm 6'4" and started pre op at 380. I cut to 1200 health conscious calories a day and felt fine, no hunger, good energy, but I wasn't losing like I thought I would. So I upped it to 1600-1800 cals and upped the Water and I can't believe how quick I'm losing! My Fitness Pal reccomended around 2800 but I couldn't imagine eating that much (healthy) food!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
