I'm preop- and have heard this before...still trying to understand why its a chore to get liquids down...do u feel sick - or that feeling after a stomach bug...its just so hard to understand and im trying to prepare myself mentally.

Well, it's hard for me b/c @ 1st I could only drink 1oz every 15 min. That's what u do right after surgery. I have a 3 oz stomach that us swollen & creating scar tissue, so I don't get full use of that 3 oz. If I drink too much, too fast, it's an aweful feeling. So, that aweful feeling of over-fullness keeps me from overindulging or gulping my liquids. It's kinda like that feeling that u get after Thanksgiving dinner! But pain & nausea to go w/. It's an opportunity to really change my habits, honor them, learn what my body needs. & I hear it gets better! But 3oz is tiny! I'm learning what it all looks like on a plate (now a saucer), a spoon (now a baby spoon), & a cup (after surgery, a 1oz NyQuil cup). It's a lot of work w/a HUGE PAY OFF!!! 17lbs off, 1 1/2 weeks post op! Good luck!

Thank you' date=' Cherice! I am a week and a half out and I was hungry day 2!!! I was worried this just didn't work for me! I have been sticking with the liquids, but wanting my 7-year-old's pizza, steak, eggs, etc. I finally took a bite of his Pizza Crust and chewed the heck out of it and then spit it out. Pretty satisfying! I guess I just miss the taste of food. When I start obsessing over something, I take a bite and spit it out. Seems to be working for my cravings. I know it will all come together because my stomach is SMALLER and I cannot binge -ever again. Hopefully I will lose those cravings. Thanks again, I thought I was the only one who was hungry![/quote']

There is a food disorder called 'spitting' & it can be as psychologically damaging as any other food disorder. Be careful not to replace 1 disorder w/another. I've found a 12 Step group to be very helpful. I don't want to replace 1 bad habit for another. I want to fix why I do it in the 1st place. :)

Thanks, Jennyblue. Fortunately I haven't done that again. I am slowly losing the craving for food that has little value. I'm happy about that. I've learned that I have so little room for anything at all, that I want it to be nutritionally valuable. Good luck to you. I'm 12 lbs down at two weeks out.

I'm one month post-op and I seem to be hungrier an hour after I eat than I did before I ate. Anyone else feel like this?

What is full fluids?

Full fluids are liquids that aren't clear like Protein drinks, Tomato & creamy chicken Soup.. It's the next step from Clear Liquids like broth, Popsicles.

I'm 8 days post op and not hungry at all. So much so it freaks me out a bit. I get my fluids in, just started full fluids today, but it was a chore to get the shakes down. It didn't hurt or an discomfort. I just didn't have any interest. Anyone else experience this or am I just wierd?

I had NO hunger for about 8 months. Now I have what I call my 'new hunger'. I have more of an empty feeling, not real hunger. I'm 2 yrs 2 months out! It's wonderful and makes maintaining much easier.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
