DEZ1975 170 Posted August 8, 2012 Post Op Day 1. Surgery was yesterday. I'm home. Have to be standing in order to get fluids in without pain at bottom of sleeve. Does this pain with fluids get better?
ebthompson2010 126 Posted August 8, 2012 YES!! The first two days were the WORST for me. I am 5 days post op now and have no problems getting the fluids down except that I have a habit of swallowing air along with them. So yes, it gets easier. The more you drink and walk the easier it is. Congrats!!

legal loser 77 Posted August 8, 2012 Warmer drinks tend to go down better until the swelling goes down in your new tummy. I found that even room temp. drinks worked better than cold stuff.
LadyJ_OES 10 Posted August 8, 2012 I was sleeved on the 6th. Warm chicken broth went down well. Drinking room temp water...small sips. Jello made me queasy.
SkinnySmurf 3 Posted August 8, 2012 I agree with those who posted before me. Warmer liquids go down easier and TINY sips are key. It got better for me in a couple days. Before I realized it, it no longer hurt to drink. 1 DEZ1975 reacted to this
Lovemeifyoucan 34 Posted August 8, 2012 Apple juice went down much better than Water for me and chicken broth. Try anything to make sure you get in fluids . But it gets much better everyday. I am 8 days post op! Welcome to the losers bench!!
Gene1970 179 Posted August 8, 2012 The first few days are the worst... but rest assured it gets much better. somewhere before the end of the 2nd week you will feel soooooo much better. By the end of the second week or mid third week you will at times forget you even had surgery... at least I did. It's amazing what a difference a few days makes.
