Ey everyone. I have an iPad and iPhone. Does anyone know a good app to help me track my food?

What is it 700-800 cals a day? Im day 7 post op. are we supposed to be even taking calories into account? Lemme give ya a run down of what ive eaten so far:

1) Top ramen broth x 3/ day (its easy for me to get like 2 cups of liquid down at a time. Im worried its alot)

2) hot chocolate

3) milk tea

4) 2 popsicles

5) im sucking on hard candy. Is that ok?

Also, does anyone know any good bariatric workbooks for postop? Or food addiction workbooks/sites?

Thanks guys!!! Really appreciate it!!

Congrats on your surgery!:)

As far as apps go I use My Fitness pal. I really like it and if you have anything that scans you can scan the barcode for easy input. You can also track your exercise and Water intake on there too.

As far as calories at 7 days I didn't keep track of calories, the most importance was shooting for 64 ounces of water(staying hydrated) and trying to get my Protein in. I was on a full liquid diet at the start for two weeks.

Now that I am on foods my doctors main concern is still not calories, he would rather us just count Protein and Water. So still the 64 ounces of water and 80-100 grams of protein. We can also count carbs, in which he dosen't want us going over 50 a day.

As fars as hard candy, I don't see why you couldn't as long as you don't accidently swallow it!:P

Anyways, congrats again and well wishes:)

My Fitness Pal is the best app for tracking. I didn't track calories until I was on soft foods. Top ramen broth has a lot of sodium, please be careful with eating too much of that. I sucked on hard candy occassionally, no harm :)

I haven't bought any books so no help there. Good luck on your journey!

I didn't start counting calories until soft food stage which was week 3 for me. The first two weeks was just making sure I got fluids and Protein in. Mynetdiary is a great app for me on calorie counting and exercise log. You can scan

barcodes and it learns the things you eat frequently and all you do is type a few letters after awhile. It's 99 cents and Also you can track how many glasses a day of fluids you drink.

The hot chocolate and hard candy is a no no. Your only 7 days post op. Did your Dr. not give guidelines on what was ok to have.

Here is a link page 26 tells you somewhat you can have. Hope this helps.

I count Protein more than I count calories. I eat protein first, and I try to get in 70 grams a day. It doesn't matter what my calorie count is at -- if I am low on my protein, I need to eat some protein.

64. Oz liquid & 64. Oz of Protein. Sounds like ur not getting anything but sugar & sodium. I've enjoyed Protein Drinks, propel zero, sugar free Popsicles, creamy Tomato & creamy chicken Campbell's Soup to go w/unflavored Protein Powder, sugar free Jello, Decaf coffee w/vanilla or chocolate protein powder.< /p>

I'd also highly recommend u join a 12 Step program in your area like Overeaters Anonymous. U can find them in the phone book or google them for your area. They're amazing life changers! There's also a section for that on this app.

I use myfitnesspal on my iPhone to cout my nutritional values, but I'm not even looking @ calories yet. My Dr's group gave me a book called The Calirie King-Calorie, Fat, & Carbohydrate Counter, which looks like it will be helpful in the future. It even has restaurant info in it.

Good luck! Hope this was helpful :)

I had my surgery on 7/27. I weighed 214 and now I am at 199. I'm very frustrated because I am counting my calories on my fitness pal. The first week after surgery, I was at 200-300 calories per day. Now I'm getting 500 calories per day or less. I feel like I should be losing more weight.

So in less than 2 weeks you've lost your IV fluids and 15 pounds! Sounds like you're doing great! Please don't be disappointed because a stall on the scale is inevitable. Make sure you also focus on your measurements or how your clothes fit. These things will be the true measure of progress. Keep up the good work!

I was sleeved on 7/26/12 my start weight was 257 now I'm 230 as of today (1 day under 2 weeks). All I have is Protein, Water, apple juice 100% juice sugar free and suger free popsicles. I'm not counting any calories just walking 20-30 min daily. I say check with your nut. and surg ALL ARE DIFFERENT.. My friend was sleeved 2 weeks before me and she's started eating eggs, tuna w/crackers and mash potatoe prior to her making 2weeks post op. She followed the Dr's orders this is what he recommended when she was not getting enough fluids. She will be 4 weeks tomorrow and she already had her some chips (yummy)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
