Aug2ndsleever 16 Posted August 8, 2012 I had my surgery Thursday aug 2nd and came home aug 5th. Every since I been home I have been reading lables like crazy looking for ways to get that Protein in. I have not got all my protein in at all since I came home and I'm starting to think its unrelistic to get that much in. I got 44 grams in today which is half what I'm suppost to get in and it was a full time job. Anyone have some good advice on how they get the protein in? Seems like unless I keep drinking Protein Shakes all day I will never hit the 80 grams a day. It was hard even then.

Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted August 8, 2012 You are doing just fine! You are very early out and should expect to be able to get more Protein in as your stomach heals and is not swollen. The most important thing is that your getting all your fluids in. Water first then protein. Oh and Protein Shakes count as Fluid. Dehydration is the biggest problem right now. I am almost 1 year out and I still drink my Premier shakes. they have 30 gms of protein in 11oz with very little sugar. They taste great too. Keep up the great job and CONGRATs! Susmcmur 124 Posted August 8, 2012 Don't stress about the Protein so much during the first two weeks! Your big job is Clear Liquids during week one to stave off dehydration. The next priority is movement and breathing exercises (my hospital gave me a Triflo) to avoid blood clots. Finally, if you're up to it, sip on a Protein Shake for thirty minutes (small sips over the entire half hour). Take a thirty minute break, then go back to clear liquids for a few hours, take a thirty minute break, then back to protein. It's not a lot of fun, you feel like a whipped kitten, and everything kind of hurts. BUT, every day it gets better and you get stronger.

Parker's Dad 50 Posted August 8, 2012 Isopure zero Carb has 40g of Protein in a 20oz bottle, is a clear and easy to swallow if you find a flavor you like. Sent from my mobile productivity killer. Good advice. It is a double whammy of Fluid and Protein at the same time. I have had the orange, blue raspberry, and apple melon. All were good and it gives you a break from the same old chocolate or vanilla that most others seem to be.
DEZ1975 170 Posted August 8, 2012 I was told not to worry one but about Protein until week 2. In fact, no Protein Drinks until day 8.
Aug2ndsleever 16 Posted August 8, 2012 Thanks every one. I was so worried about my hair falling out if I didn't get it all in. So many decisions and things to think about.
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted August 9, 2012 I believe that even if you could get all your Protein in, you'd still lose hair. your body has taken a big hit and was traumatized to some extent. Now it's sending all it's energy on repairing the stomach. So some hair (maybe about 33%) will fall out, but it will grow back rather rapidly also. Enjoy the ride and looking forward to hearing more about your accomplishments as time goes on.
