newlifeforlittleME 23 Posted August 7, 2012 I am one week out today. I am TRYING to get all the liquids in but it is so hard. I know to fight through it, but I look at the clock and see that has been hours with nada! BAD ME...I am working on it. I just sat down and had Heart Healthy Tomato Soup and was able to drink 8 ounces!?!?!? I didnt think that was possible. That is what I heated up and I just kept sipping on it until it was just about gone. I know that it will take time to get to know the sleeve, but do you ever feel FULL? I am afraid that I wont know that I am full and stretch "what the doctor gave me".

newlifeforlittleME 23 Posted August 7, 2012 That's why I am soooo concerned. It took me about 10 min to get almost 1 cup!
Back~To~Amy 307 Posted August 7, 2012 What you are experiencing is completely normal. liquids pretty much slide right through so you can have a lot more of them than you think. Also, a lot of people tolerate warm liquids easier than cold liquids so that may be why you got a bunch more Soup in. I found it easier to use soup and broth to get my liquids in than a cold liquid. Also, your question of if you were sleeved. I think most people ask themselves that question. I know I did on more than one occassion. Just wait until you start solids. You will have no doubt then that you have a little bitty tummy. Congrats on being sleeved and best of luck on your journey! 1 newlifeforlittleME reacted to this

Some people have more trouble than others. The nurses termed me "super drinker" in the hospital. I could always drink quite fast and still can at 9 weeks out. KS Fort Worth 86 Posted August 7, 2012 Thinner liquids can pass right through the stomach, as long as you don't force it. I had a second swallow test 8 days post-op (standard procedure for Doc) and he showed me the contrast going past the pyloric valve. Tomato Soup is fairly thin. My staple right now on full liquids is the heart-healthy cream of chicken, made with milk, with a scoop of Protein Powder. It's thick enough I can't do more than 3 ounces or so at a sitting. I'm not ready to "push" my sleeve yet to find out its capacity, since I'm only two weeks out. I get what I need with only occasional slight discomfort, so I'm not worried. I've always been a huge drinker, non-alcoholic drinker that is. Anyway, in this heat we are having here, I can help but gulp.
Mimismom 49 Posted August 8, 2012 When I just got out of surgery and I was on my full liquid diet, I was able to drink so much Soup and it was creamy soup too. The longer out I got, the tighter my restriction got. Today I'm 4 weeks out and struggled to get in 2 ounces of turkey for lunch. Trust me it will happen once you are soft and solid foods. 1 newlifeforlittleME reacted to this
