I think my problem is I cannot invision what "small" is. I have never been "small." I was diagnosed as obese around age 6. I was always bigger than all my friends, the biggest on the softball team and an even bigger adult. I think I set my goal originally at 160lbs because I cannot imagine anything less. However, I know for my height 150# is a great target number. I just have no clue what it looks like. I think for ME having been obese (since childhood) the whole body image issues are extreme. I honestly have no clue what I should weigh or what looks appropriate. I figure I will take each day as it comes.

Good luck on your journey!

While I was a 'normal' child/teen, like you I cannot envision being SMALL. I mentioned on an earlier post that I am 52, and have been fat for about 27 years or so. The fact that I don't even really like food or eating anymore is CRAZY!!! So, yeah, I will learn to deal with being called TOO skinny!

Well, I am having this debate with myself at this very moment. I am currently a size 5/6, small tops and small dresses and a little smaller than I look in my avatar.

I remember the days in high school, stuffing myself, wishing I could get to 100 lbs..Oh my, what 30 years and three kids later, will do to you. I have no desire to be that small again, and have no worries that it will. Like Dooter said, I'm good at gaining weight..

Just curious...why is it that after WLS or a great amt. of weight loss in general, a person's head tends to look too big for their body? Like a bobblehead! Silly, I know, but a serious question lol :)

Excercise & time. I've never paid much attention to her arms, but, if they are thin, endurance training & stretching will do the trick, if they are more athletic(muscular) then strength training is what you are looking for. My personal preference on a lady is a mix of both. Enough muscle that you can tell she is active but not so much that it looks masculine.

As far as the sag, the skin on your arms will continue to shrink for up to 2 years after your surgery.

I am exactly the same as you, I totally relate! I am 4'11 (currently 255) and it was nice to hear my doctor say that I will be a nice size at 150.

Most doctors tell me 114 and that sounds SOOO scary to me!! Anyhow I have no idea what either of these weights will look like on me lol so One day at a time like you!

My concern is that both times my wife lost weight and made goal she got knocked up and I just hope that that does not happen to me.

I am not concerned about getting to small witht he sleeve... I am more concerned with not keeping enough weight off... Unfortunately I think most of us should be more concerned about that! I have easily gained 3-5 pounds a few times and have had to be careful to lose those again!!!!

I am 6.8 pounds away from goal (!!!!) and I have been getting a few comments lately that "i'm skinny enough" or "i look sickly" (I take everything that woman says with a few grains of salt). The thing is, my goal is 150 (I'm 5'6") and that puts me just barely below the "overweight" category. I think 154 and below is normal. As of right now, I'm in a size 8 pants which is NORMAL! Sheesh!

I think people are just used to seeing you bigger and they'll just have to get used to the new you!

As for the fact of not being able to stop the weight loss, I think your body will stop where it is comfortable.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
