vondb 7 Posted August 7, 2012 I know this may seem crazy but I'm a little worried about getting to small. I don't want to look sick. Is there a way to avoid this or will that even happen. I'm just really anxious about my surgery. All kinds of things running through my head. 1 Mz_Elle reacted to this
lovealways 22 Posted August 7, 2012 I'm not gunna lie...that thought has crossed into my head many, many times. I've seen family members and friends who have had the surgery look down right sick looking and too thin. This is NOT the case with every bypass patient, but it's also a concern of mine. I'd like to be healthy after this surgery, not 110 lbs....but maybe I'm being a little unrealistic lol 1 panda_sam reacted to this

Dooter 1,457 Posted August 7, 2012 I'd like to at least see and feel what "too small" may be like! If I don't like it...I'm an expert at gaining weight, I already know that! 42 Slenderella, kryssaboo, missjenny and 39 others reacted to this

Aussiegirl 580 Posted August 7, 2012 Havent got there yet, and I definitely hope not to get there, as my goal always kept me curvy, just the right kind of curves. I have planned that I will roll back my exercise regime (which is quite alot at the moment 6 days week, sometimes twice a day), tho I would not change much about my food at the moment...maybe put some more good fat foods in. Time will tell.
Mz_Elle 23 Posted August 7, 2012 @Vondb. I have that concern as well. I don't want to be too small or have too much skin hanging off me either. I DO NOT want to look like Star Jones. (no offense, but she looks ill and her head is awfully disproportionate to her body since her procedure). I think VSG patients fair better than bypass ones in this area because we don't have the malabsorption issues. I think it's a little bit easier for us to keep our nutrients and healthy glow.....at least I hope so! LOL. I don't want to be a size 5 or even a six. I like my curves and would be happy with a 10 or 12 but with muscle tone. 2 tsmyle and TracyLynn reacted to this
Lissa_S 787 Posted August 7, 2012 LOL I honestly dream of having that problem I suppose when I read this I remembered what my surgeon said - that basically the sleeve acts to "reset" the body and to get your body used to working on less - less energy (as you're lighter you don't need to produce as much), less weight and less caloric intake. She said to me that at the end of the day, it will be a combination of my body and my lifestyle that determines where I end up. If I want to be thinner and my lifestyle supports going to the gym 12 times a week, then it's awesome. If I decide on a weight I am happy with that I can maintain by working out 5 times x 30 mins a week (as per current health guidelines as the minimum exercise for general good health), then that is awesome too. It will be our CHOICE - pre-sleeve I haven't felt like I've had much choice or control for a while so it will be really nice to exercise that muscle too 3 TracyLynn, kryssaboo and ProudGrammy reacted to this
paigep 17 Posted August 7, 2012 I can understand worrying about that. But I seriously want to be one of those girls people look at and tell to eat a cheeseburger :-) 12 Territravel, ProudGrammy, Dooter and 9 others reacted to this
Lissa_S 787 Posted August 7, 2012 I can understand worrying about that. But I seriously want to be one of those girls people look at and tell to eat a cheeseburger :-) Hahahaha - me too although a friend of mine who was sleeved about 18 months ago told me that she had a nasty comment the other day - her beautician (nasty person anyway) told her to eat something "BECAUSE YOU LOOK LIKE A CANCER PATIENT"... gee people are mean! She looks amazing - I told her (1) not to go back and (2) to tell her to suck it So I guess we also have to watch out for people who want to put us down for losing weight as well as mock us for being overweight! 2 BrickHouse and TracyLynn reacted to this
