Losingitforgood! 50 Posted August 7, 2012 So I had an ultrasound today of my gallbladder and apparently it's full of gallstones. The tech was surprised I had not had any known issues or attacks. This means my gallbladder will be removed at the time of surgery. I know this is common- what kind of recovery am I looking at for both the removal of my stomach and gallbladder? mdefabio 73 Posted August 7, 2012 I had my gallbladder out when I was in my early twenties. but for the VSG it will be about 6 - 8 weeks recovery.
RMS 64 Posted August 7, 2012 I had mine out during my VSG surgery. The surgery lasted a little longer. I was lucky the only pain I had was my throat from the tube.
Marty McSkinnystein 342 Posted August 7, 2012 I had it all done same time. It's good you're getting it out. I have a history of large gallstones and had a couple attacks that sent me to the hospital. I guess I had gotten used to my gallbladder pain because..... The doctor said my GB was inflamed, enlarged and infected and was STUCK to my stomach. There was evidence of recent attacks and even pancreatitis. I had no idea it was that bad. It's so funny to be 3 weeks away from having this major surgery and compared to how I lived for so long I have basically no stomach pain. So you'll probably be better off after surgery. How 'bout that?

Losingitforgood! 50 Posted August 7, 2012 Thanks everyone! I'm glad that is getting taken care of sooner than later! Just hope it doesn't prolong my recovery much- maybe a little extra time off work will be all I need to feel 100% again.
madisonPA 29 Posted August 7, 2012 Ure lucky to have it out at the same time. I never had a problem with my gallbladder but two weeks after surgery my gallbaladder decided it wanted to go. I was terrified to go under the knife again so soon but my recovery was a total 180 from vsg surgery. Youll be fine.
